Been a while since I last posted, but most importantly its still a long while since I gave in to those tempting voices. 271 days in fact. The World Cup may send a few whispers my way, but nothing that is going to make me start throwing cash down the drain again.

Loving the World Cup, and while I know some of my English friends will be hurting, tonight at least the best team won.

Gambling is not a major part of my life, and I hope that my friends continue to find the strength not to gamble and not to slip back into old habits.

All the best

Ryan

Hey hey Ryan and good to see you going strong. It is a bit challenging time for many people but as I say, we see the game for what it is. Was gutted seeing team crashed in a last 5 min, but hey, you never know what outcome is to follow.

Really proud of you for keeping strong and moving forward, life is yours to take, gambling has no place in it...grab the opportunities and new found life with both hands and never let go. Breathe in and enjoy 🙂

All the best and take care, day at a time as always

Speak soon

Hi Ryan and great stuff on your continued abstinence. You seem settled in recovery. That's a good thing. Thanks for your words of wisdom in my diary. They make a lot of sense. Regards... S.A 🙂

Another week has passed, and another week where work seems to dominate my life. My boss has been off ill, so having to step up to the plate and do two jobs is starting to take its toll. Overtime on Saturday and Sunday morning, and then another week before I get the following weekend off. Boy am I looking forward to that weekend!

Anyhow, been a bit down over the last few days, work and the endless paying off of debts...although it is becoming slightly not so endless. Another few months, and I can spend all of my own money...or at least start saving for something worthwhile.

Hope you all have a great weekend

Ryan

Fella thanks for popping by my thread,I have been enjoying the world cup, some great games, plenty of goals and for me great to see the usa finish above portugal, as I am not a fan of Ronaldo,I see him as a talented cheat!! lol

I hope you get rewarded for the effort you give work, regards the debt my friend

I see it this way

I no longer add to them

I hope to have cleared the majority by the end of the year, then plan to actually save some

Set some goals to enjoy it.

the effort of your hard work and the re education of your mind

Abstain and maintain

Duncs stepping forward never back

Hi Ryan

That weekend will some come round and is something to look forward to , I'm sure you will carry on making the right decision as you do every day to see this stress at work through

With the debts just keep looking at the big picture where you were and where you are now , so many positives than negatives

On to day 282, and I'm writing while watching France take the pedal off the gas now that they are 2-0 up against Nigeria. I find it strange that although it has always been football and sports betting that has given me the urge to gamble, sports betting never really did the damage. It was always the video poker and the other casino games that would really give my wallet a good shake and take everything. Then again, I've never been able to stick to the sports bets without going on to the other.

Temptation has been sniffing around, but although I'm stamping out each thought, it does keep coming back. Having been speaking with a few others, it seems that stress seems to bring on these temptations, but I'm determined not to let my self control slip. Can't wait for my manager to come back from their sick leave, as that will significantly reduce my workload.

All the best

Ryan

Flippin heck...time has been ebbing away from me once again...hopefully I can regain some freedom now that the World Cup is but a pleasant and exciting memory. Such a wonderful festival of football, but trying to watch every second along with keeping on top of my freelance work and the day job...Something had to give, and it was just about everything outside of those three activities that had to go.

As always, I count myself lucky for all the great support on offer here, Sandra, Steve, Julie, Duncan, SA, Castle, and everyone else I've forgotten. I wouldn't be at this point, I'm sure a slip would have taken me by now. The key is to continue making the right decisions.

I can't believe today is day 296, starting to get close to that year mark once again. The September holidays is when I know that I have to really steel myself against any sort of temptation. Three weeks off and as yet no plans, although I vacillate between heading to Europe, a road trip around some UK sights, and a few neglected friends, or maybe even the US. Or I'll probably dither and end up doing none of the above!

Ah well, time for bed and respite from work and everything else.

All the best

Ryan
