Hi all,

So I've been browsing for a long time, still each time I do I've gone back on to the slots online and put money on. It's only ever been £10-50 a time but I've realised how much debt I've got our family into and how little money we have now to last the month.

It all started back in May when I began to feel so low about myself and started suffering with anxiety. I didn't let anyone in on how I felt, instead I turned to online gambling. My first win was £1000 which soon then went straight back on to the slots and it was all gone before I knew it.

This is my day one, and even though I've gambled this morning, I need to make a start on beating this addiction. It's making me ill, my children and my partner are my life (I know it applies to most of you with families) and loosing them to this would be heartbreaking.

I'm already on the waiting list to see a counsellor and after Christmas ringing stepchange to help with debts. I'm wanting to sit my partner down and my mum to tell them everything, but wanting to hold off until after the Christmas period I can't bare to see them all so down on the day, for my children's sake more than anything

Wish me luck, I'll be hoping to check in day to day to help get me through all this.

Thank you all for your support already! Even though I have only posted once, reading all your posts have helped me so much already 🙂

Xx

Hi Stacey, welcome to recovery 🙂

Great to see you taking the leap from browsing to posting & a recovery diary is an excellent idea! Many people gamble to escape so you are definately not alone in trying to use it to stop the pain! Addiction (or Mr Gamble as I like to call 'it') promises almost as much as it takes but the good news is, we can arrest this disease! On top of stuff you have planned, I would strongly suggest you download some blocking software (k9 is free) to get your gambling (Time-Money-Location, remove 1 & you cannot gamble) triangle broken!

You don't need luck, you can do this - ODAAT
