Day 56. Eight Weeks.

Morning everyone.

Seems so much longer than seven weeks ago, I returned to my diary! Pay day last Friday and I still had money in my account from the previous month. Not loads of money but it is one of my little goals I am going to continue doing. It feels so nice nearing pay day and you still have spare money! Roll back a few years ago and for a period of my life, there were so many times that I had spent all my hard earned salary on online gambling, within a matter of hours!! Those feelings of desperation, stress and anxiety for the remainder of the month, serve as great reminders! I read on new diaries how some have done exactly the same and how overwhelmed this makes them feel.

Back to now (thank goodness). Bills remain paid, money in the bank and more importantly, I have peace of mind. Work at the moment is driving me crackers. So many changes to deal with but just taking it one day at a time and seeing every day as a new day.

I have a christening to go to at the weekend. Present was bought long ago and I am treating me and my mum to an overnight's stay at a plush hotel.
Off work then all of next week - cannot wait!! Some lunch dates to follow with the girlies too!

Take care all and so will I.

Feb - looking forward to a break on "The Bright Side of the Road".

Hi Feb

Just wanted to say a huge thank you for posting on my diary a few day's ago. I've just read some of your diary and find our patterns and thoughts of behaviour so similar. You sound like you are doing so well and I'm so glad you've continued to abstain. Keep up the great work and I hope you've managed the chocolate challenge for Lent too. I've alway's given up chocolate in the past but this year I thought gambling would have to be my priority and I still need my choccy fix when I get a bit agitated with myself for having succumbed to those urges in the past. It's normally my medicinal therapy that helps me forget about the irrational urges that can lead us down the wrong path. Anyway, so glad you are doing well and I will continue to follow your recovery.

Take care and best wishes

Rosie x

Thank you Rosie.

Yes, I am still abstaining from chocolate!! Two weeks into my Lent promise, after having chocolate every single day, for as long as I can remember!! I did have a huge craving last night - the biggest one so far but I just reminded myself of the HUGE Easter Egg I am going to buy myself for Easter Sunday!

Take care.

Day 60.

Peace and harmony (well outside of work at least)! I finished today though for a week so really looking forward to being off, doing nice things with lovely family and friends and forgetting about my job!

Just bought myself a foodmixer! In the Debenhams sale - half price bargain - result. Love my cooking and baking I do. It is so therapeutic and when I first arrived here 3 years ago, I found that baking really helped me to switch focus from something I had become consumed with, which resulted in such devastation!

Off to my brother's tomorrow for a tapas lunch so going to make some Raspberry Crumble muffins to take with me.

Take care all. Sleep peacefully and so will I.

Feb - feeling calm, blessed and happy on "The Bright Side of the Road".

Day 63. 9 Weeks.

Another week quickly passed. Had a lovely time at a family christening with lovely people and adorable children. Off work for the week too so "Happy Days"!

Gambling doesn't even come into my mind now and I can safely say, those few gambling bouts back in 2015, seem like some distant memory.

I am happy to have a roof over my head, a job (as crazy as it is at the min)!, food in my fridge and cupboards, bills that continue to be paid, money for myself to enjoy, debt reducing each month and most of all - PEACE OF MIND.

Take care all and so will I.

Just for today, tomorrow and forever, I will not gamble.

Feb - Feeling tired but settled on "The Bright Side of the Road".
