Hello there, I have decided to run another challenge thread, the last one went well and I feel helped those involved and gave us all another tool in this battle against our addiction. Threads for me add a bit of focus and are a weekly reminder of why im stopping and also if you've got a bit of a competive streak in you like myself you might want to finish it just for that reason alone.

So i've basically just copied and pasted the opening message of the last thread as i think the whole thing worked pretty well, if anyone has any suggestions and would like to change, add or take away something just post away and im sure we can sort something out.

The thread/challenge will last for 3 months/92 days starting Friday 1st Novemember and ending on Friday 31st January. I have chosen these dates as christmas can be a challenge for us gamblers, so much money spent the temptation is there to try and win some of it back. I originally thought of running it just for 2 months and finishing it new years eve which is a d**n good finishing date but I know myself January is one long month, the madness of christmas is slowing down and the reality of all that expense can put alot of pressure on our heads so having the thread last to the end of January can hopefully aid in keeping our will power strong during a tough month and of course it'll be a great way to start the year with the first month gamble free. And i must say a nice little coincedence that the dates both start and finish on a friday, thats handy.

The thread is open to all wether its your day 1 or day 1000. New users can get off to that perfect start, people who have been here a little while can help consolidate what they have already achieved and the long time legends of the forum can use this as a way of keeping they're focus.

Im not gonna be to strict with anyone, I will keep the registration open for the entire thread as even if you start a month in, completing 60 days is still a massive achievement. Also i wont remove any names unless asked to do so as i dont wont to discourage anyone, if you do slip and wish to continue i can add your new start date in brackets (same as if you start the thread late). Also what I did last time is for people not checking in but still gamble free I just moved them to a second list as you want to have that need to keep checking in otherwise theres not much point in the thread.

There will be a check in every friday where you can state your gamble free for another week, first check in being Friday 1st November and the final one being Friday 31st January. Although if fridays doesnt suit just say and we can change the check in date or each have a different check in day, aslong as your checking in each week then you'll be helping yourself and others move closer to that 90 day target.

As you can tell im keeping it quite relaxed as i feel aslong as were all moving towards the same goal its not neccessary to have to many "rules". Its all about helping yourself get free of this addiction and with that you'll be helping others which again helps yourselves.

Right I think thats enough of my ramblings, if you do wish to sign up just reply to this thread and i will add your name to the list below. If you have any questions or suggestions post away either here or i do have my own diary also.

Good luck to everyone, it'll be a pleasure to have you on board and I cant wait to start this journey.

Me. It's been a tough old year and a bit nails-down-the-blackboard for me at the moment; just got to tough it out and then things will get better. This will be a good focus for me.

Thanks for this, Dave.

Will give this a go and work through to 2014! Count me in! I'm currently 6 weeks into my recovery. Started on 1st Sept so Jan will be 4 months

Building a much better life now...why would I ever gamble again! I have taken up Golf...and my addictive personally has turned me to that...what a great sport! Seen as an expensive hobby.... Nothing on gambling!

Onwards and upwards.

Hanz.
