Hi all
I dont know if im in the right part of the forum as I have just joined! But like most of us, I have a big issue gambling, and its on the worst machines of all time, B*****d rlt
I have faced the fact I cant really stop myself doing it, I constantly go in everyday almost and put in any amounts of money I had. For example 2 days ago I lost £200, yesterday I lost £100, then today I won for once and got £200 from betting £60, and i feel like if i dont attempt to stop the habbit ill be back in tomorrow and the day after
Things in my life have changed over the last few months, I have got serious with my gf (very happy), and we are expecting! however I have spoken to her about this, but guess what? I constantly lie about things and she doesnt know i havent stopped. I have to start saving! I have to stop throwing my money away. I have some debts to pay as well for around £2000, it doesnt seem like much but im a 20 year old on a half decent wage, but when i throw about 70% of my wage away things become very difficult untill i hit that huge win i always chase!
I just need some ways I can stop myself doing it, self exclustion is the first thing on my mind, but how do i do this to stop myself being allowed into ANY betting shop? Im reading the forums as I go seeing what people do, but this has to stop for me today, before it gets so out of hand I cant do anything about it!
Hi Danbo & welcome to recovery 🙂 You are absolutely right to come here now & put a stop to this nonsense with so much @ stake...Don't get old like most of us have! We cannot win because we cannot stop!
Bad news about bulk self exclusion...I don't think there is such thing (although admittedly I never tried going through the HQ's). You will need passports photos & some of them can do multiple shops within their catchment area but you will have to exclude from each chain separately! Good news is, there are other ways to stop this! You need to break your Time-Money-Location triangle as taking away one will remove the ability to gamble! If you cannot hand over your finances to anyone, you will need to look @ maybe downgrading your bank account to a cash card with a heavily reduced withdrawal facility or just switching over to a pass book only!
You may want to consider a phonecall to Gamcare, counselling GA but for me, most important will be to have a plan to keep busy next time you feel the urges strike!
