Day 57 and actually enjoying watching the tennis for first time in a long while. Son has put on some more weight which is positive and I've got to spend a solid 4 day Easter break with him. Things slowly getting better....

Thought of the day... do people still gamble but not in a financial way? I think most of us will do and if so what's your attitude to this type of gambling - are you risk averse etc?
To explain, my son is a complicated little thing and as he's so tiny we essentially force feed him through a nasal gastric tube. You pull out the contents of his stomach with a syringe so you know how much is in there when you start. We then have a set amount we should try and give him each feed as we know if he keeps that down he'll grow. However, if he has a lot in his stomach at the start you know that you won't be able to give him the full feed or he'll be sick and you'll lose a load of valuable feed plus have to tidy him up and put him through more stress probably burning more calories in the process. So nearly every time I feed my son I feel like I am gambling - taking an educated risk. I want to get the most feed in him to make him grow but if I push too far I'll be in a worse position.
Or in my job I take educated punts every day on a whole range of things... should I quote X amount or Y amount? Should I do something for free in the hope I'll get more paid work in the future? Should I charge a huge amount as I think they are desperate for me to solve this problem but I could risk getting nothing?
I find in general that I am very risk averse.
Interested to know your own thoughts.
Can't disagree with that, same in my line of work. I think it's more a a risk that you have made the right decision in the actions you take in life. I see the gamble as more of a financial thing. I can make the choice to completely remove that part from my life, with the choices I make in life I try and make the right choice and hope it's the right one. (Not a fan of the hope word but I do)
Proud of you dealing with a very difficult situation and now making the choice that gambling won't make that any better.
