Hi folks,

I've been looking forward to this day in the knowledge that I can start 2015 with a clean slate. I want to be a better person starting tomorrow and I know that stopping gambling is the perfect way to start. I have a quiet determination that this will be the year I finally conquer my addiction.

Many happy returns to all reading or contributing to these pages. Have a great 2015.

Hi Curly

How are you? I'm sorry, but also pleased to see you back on these pages. Time to sort yourself out. How's the golf? The Blues are not having the best of times. I'm sure being in Europe doesn't help.

Keep 2015 clean. Wishing you all the very best

Russ

Thanks for the posts.

So far so good for 2015. I've been here before though so who knows how long it will last? I did a year in 2012 (maybe 2011) and was surprised looking back to see that I had done 5 months in 2013. I know that unless I am 100% committed I will soon slip back into my gambling ways. That may sound negative but actually I am just being realistic.

I feel much better about myself already for 8 days without a bet. It certainly helps having started this diary. It's a little extra motivation to keep going. I did fancy a bet after finishing work before. I'm not taking my wallet to work with me though which removes that option. Baby steps!

I'll post again in a week or so.

Hi Curly,

It's always with a little sadness that I say welcome back to someone who was gamble-free for a long time, but is returning after a slip. I've come back here in a bad way a few times, so its good that you've got that positive attitude and that you are feeling better.

You know that you can do it as you were successful before, its just about getting the right motivation and making sure you don't give yourself the opportunities to gamble again.

Keep taking those baby steps, and soon you'll look back and realise how far you've gone already!

Ryan

Hi Curly10, thanks for dropping by on my diary! I commend you being realistic but you must use it to ensure you don't become complacent this time! You know you can do it, you know how much better it feels to be gamble free! You are back & that's what counts, it will last as long as you want it to, you just have to keep putting the work in - ODAAT

Hi Curly,

Thanks for your post on my diary.

Like you, I have returned after a long break away from this site. I have found it incredibly helpful this time around. Hope you build on those first 8 days mate, and keep that focus.

You can beat this and shape your future for the better....

All the best

Ade

Just a quick update to say that it is now more than 3 weeks since I last gambled. Starting afresh for 2015 is a big help as is starting this diary. I am getting thoughts about gambling on a daily basis but I am able to dismiss them.

Hi Curly,

Good (in a way) to see some names from the past.....2010 seems a long time ago. I’m glad you’re still fighting, you have achieved considerable abstinence in the past and I’m sure with the right combination of determination and er determination you will get there again.

I always remember 2010/11 with fondness and believe the support shown by other Gamcare posters went along way in helping me achieve some clean time.

Not convinced by Martinez mind! Thought Everton where the worst side to come to Hull this season.

Thanks for the support guys.

Day 38 today I think. Things have been going really well. I've not really been getting many urges to gamble. It's almost like I have flicked a switch in my brain and at present I've no inclination to flick it again. Maybe I'm just getting a bit older and a bit more mature. Maybe this is my time. Maybe.

I feel miles better when not gambling.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hi Curly,

Thanks for your supportive post on my diary yesterday.

I totally relate to your last post mate. Indeed we are getting older and possibly a light has come on for us at last. The old proverbial penny has dropped at last and we are now strong enough to man up and grow a pair, to enable an effective recovery once and for all.......if that make sense?!....well I hope it does, because it comes from the heart my friend.....

Just keep strong, and keep getting through one day at a time. You are doing great, and well done for coming back to the forum.

It's doing wonders for me this time round, and I really hope that it does the same for you too....

All the best mate

Keep strong

Ade
