thanks for the posts all

all is good, its been a while since i last posted and alot has happened, but to sum it up, i got paid, paid my own rent for the first time in 3 months, paid some towards credit cards, and still have some money in my pocket!

went to see a counsellor for the first time on saturday, i told her everything about everything. i will go see her once a week now. first session wasnt anything i didnt know, it was just her understanding what my problems are. she wants me to put together a list of my strengths and weaknesses and thats what we'll talk about next week.

thanks for the cookery lesson Kim, i ended up buying the spuds and flavour thingy to cook them in, chicken which i roasted, some salad, boiled veg and cheese sauce to top it off. sounds standard but house mates didnt throw up afterwards so its ok 🙂

its been almost 5 weeks now and i think im going to stop counting the days. i dont want my recovery to be a number, im on the right track now, so just want to move forward and not keep crossing days off a calander

will catch up with others posts sometime this week, hope all is going well for others in recovery land

Hows it going mate. Hope you have had a good week. I think Im gonna count days until 10 weeks then switch over to counting weeks, it gets harder to remember days and days and sometimes dont know if im coming or going.

6 weeks for today and going strong.

Thanks for your early support and wish you all the best.

Take care mate

been a while again since my last post

i used to post here everytime the urges to gamble got too much, it helped to take my mind off thing. i guess it shows the urges are settling and i can finally start to move on

got my finances sorted now, will be debt free by march 08. 2 years to recover from this mess, but theres no other way

cant say im completely over gambling, still get the odd pang to play poker, but just learnt how to deal with them.

been saying for ages i would look for a new job, but never actually got around it. today im going to start putting my cv together and get some applications in by the end of the week.

ive had this dark cloud over me for the past 2 years, and doesnt look like its going anywhere for another 2. ive had some time to reflect on what ive done, and i dont know how im feeling at the minute, confusing times.

Hello again AJ

So glad you got the finances sorted. Even if it takes 2 years, at least you are taking charge and doing something about it, that is a positive step in itself. You may not think it at the moment, but the time will fly (or is that just for us old'ns ). You seem to have made great strides for someone who hasn't told friends or family, but as you say, people on this forum are really helpful, YOU INCLUDED!

Best wishes

Rosemary

Hi mate.

Was wondering how your feeling now. Middle of the week, hows your CV coming along.

You know, two years isnt all that long a time really when you think about it. Imagine how much money you would have spent if you continued to gamble in the same vein as before for two years!!

Scary thought that. Anyway chin up mate, things aint all that bad.

All the best AJ

Hi AJ, hope the CV is coming along for you.

The cloud that will be over you for the next two years is so much brighter than the one that was over you when you were gambling so don't let it get you down too much.

Keep us posted,

Skippy
