What about GC throwing a few ideas in the ring as to what they/you feel needs changing. Plus this thread needed bumping up!

Hi... it would be good if the new website was a bit more robust. It seems to go down quite a lot especially at the weekends and in the night and then it can be many hours before its up and running again.

For me the important thing is that the site exists and its easy to navigate and its reliable. The colours, layout, whistles and bells is not that important.

One thing I would ask you not to do, is to take away our rights to edit our posts. When you did this last time many people stopped using the site.

One small point.

Sometimes I have a cr** day and want to run for the ***.

OR

Sometimes I have a c rap day and want to run for the h ills.

Maybe your bad word filter could be amended so that we can have a cr** day and run for the *** without it being blocked.

Its a small point though, am not that bothered.

As Smiler says...any thoughts from gamcare?

Something else.

I think in reality most people type straight in to the box and click "send" and then edit as they read through what they have written. That's what I do anyway.

Sometimes you advise people to write in word and then copy and paste it over. people don't do that in practice in my opinion. people just write their post whether its short or long and click send. And if they are posting from a phone etc they might not have word or whatever anyway.

For me its not like I am writing a professional document. Its thoughts and feelings isn't it. I just want to write and click send... I don't want to be flaffing about 🙂

This goes back to the site being robust enough to cope with someone writing a long post that takes a while and then it posting properly and they don't lose it etc. You get what am trying to say?

Regards.. S.A

Morning gamcare

Thanks for giving the owners of the forum a continuing voice this shows a great level of respect.

I agree with what SA is saying about the site being more robust.

On many occasions the site is temporarily 'lost' something that can be very frustrating.

I am also not interested in bells and whistles more the nuts and bolts. A fully functioning 24/7 site the first thing on my list.

I would like personally to see the diaries format remain as it is. That when you click on a diary you find yourself at page one.

For me it gives you the opportunity to read from the start of a diary, reading my first page every day remindsme where I was and I believe if I logged on and went straight to the last page an important tool may be lost.

Lastly is it possible for there to be a heading for research/useful literature/website's with useful links.

The reason I ask this is there sometimes seems folk start a diary to promote these things. I accept these links may be useful but are lost through being the purpose of a diary.

Bottom line is anything that can aid folk in arresting their destructive gambling would be wholly welcomed.

Keep up the great work.

Duncs stepping forward never back.

Hi Gamcare.

I agree with the former posts re: editing and access late in the evening/early morning. I think it is vital that all forum members have immediate access to this forum and to their own and others diaries as and when they need them.

As we know, urges/cravings can just leap out of nowhere and hit us hard and therefore, I believe that being able to access this site when we are at our most vulnerable and possibly needing support and advice more than ever is a key factor in our recovery.

Good luck and keep up the good work.

P.s: I think more chat sessions would be good also!!

A counter to see how many times people have looked at our posts just to let people know their posts are being read

Just lost yet another post in the ether. Getting to the stage where I cant be bothered to write more than a couple of sentences as if I do it disappears every time before I can click on send.

I use computers at work all day and at home and never have this problem anywhere else.

Very frustrating when you have put your feelings down as I never want to repeat the effort.

Agree with SA re edit facility and Duncs re research.

Significant reading when you look at how little and how long ago any research is logged in research projects section.

When looking at authors I find it difficult to identify their own diary as opposed to all the other entries they have made on other peoples diaries. Have noticed other people say this too when they have been looking for diarists who have not logged on recently.

Love being able to add my avatars

It may just be me, but if I am thinking about a certain individual's diary, I will look back through the diaries to find it, and when I find the page and log in, it goes back to the first page of diaries.

Also, I'm a night owl so I also tend to find that the site does go down from time to time, more often than other sites I visit regularly.

I don't really tend to explore outside the diaries, but this section is vital and I hope you don't change anything fundamental.

Thanks

Ryan

When you click on "reply to this thread" and it takes you to the reply box...it would be nice to be able to read "more than" just the last post. This is because when am replying to peoples comments its nice to be able to refer to them whilst am writing my reply. Hope this makes sense.

hi i would like to suggest that the subject box is removed when adding to diaries as I do not feel I need to title every entry so i just put an x or a dot because it wont let me leave post until I have put something in the box,

Linda

P.S. thanks for everything gamcare xx

Hi,

Agree with all of the above, just wanted to add my few words. would it be possible to provide quicker reaction and moderation to some posts? Some peole are desperate and some people are lapsing in front of our eyes. Not all of them are ready to contact you, trained staff for advice. So i think reaction to this would help.

As well as maybe a separate sector for "controlled gambling" users. Since majority of us trying to completely abstain from self destruction from this addiction, many new comers or even old users do get affected to some treads which are "allowing" controlled gambling.

Not saying people like that are not welcome here, but maybe their own little community would work for all of the users.

Also, few reminders of chat room times being thrown in during the day would be massive help for the ones who are not aware of them, being new on the site or even forgetful old users 🙂

Just few suggestions

Thanx for reading

well ,theres small bits here and there ,but i reckon the main would be in my opinion ,that as soon as you come into the site ,should have an chat advisor straight way in the login, receiving new and old visitors with an welcoming greeting and help him if its the matter ...an online chat 12 hours open, minimum, less then that its not chat room .colours are alright you want quietude not a fun fair!well, good luck and thanks!
