Just wanted to share with you all that I am now one year gamble free. A year ago I came into Forum at rock bottom, I was a complete mess and couldn't see how I could possibly quit gambling.

One year on and things are so much better thanks to quitting this self destructive habbit. It certainly hasn't been an easy journey, but one that was definitely worth making.

I wish you all the best in your recovery if I can do this you can too.

All the best

Silver

Thanks for all the kind comments.

Adam the best advice I can give you is to distract yourself from gambling especially in the early days.

I would always go to the bookies on my lunch break so instead I bought myself a bike and go out for an hour on that instead. Kept me from gambling and got a bit fitter as a bonus.

All the best.

Silver

Thanks Silver for those tips. I got paid yesterday and so far have remained gamble free which has never happened before and I honestly think you're right - I've slotted in new activities in my life and thrown myself into work. Fingers crossed I can achieve a year like yourself haha!

well done Silver lining and I particularly like your line about a journey worth making.

It certainly is a journey worth making and I feel even better as my recovery goes on. Its difficult to describe other than a content and calm feeling of knowing I am thinking straight.

Best wishes to you
