Hey guys,

i joined about 5 months ago and then disappeared for a while whilst I slipped back Into gambling on anything again.

I can happily say I've been gamble free for 6 weeks again now.

my wife found out about me owing money and I had a big decision to make...lie again or come clean...I chose the second.

i knew it could end us but I had to do it and it tuned out to be the best decision ever. I told her EVERYTHING...wow that was hard.

Now though I am gamble free, came into some money and cleared my debt...she looks after my money whilst i am paying us back but my life feels amazing. I let her see my finances when she wants and now I am totally comfortable watching sport without gambling, her faith in me has made me stop and it's amazing having money in my bank account instead of losing it all on stupid bets constantly!

i know I am in early stages but we are already doing stuff we want to do, booking holidays and doing stuff in the house, I am realising what is possible with a decent salary when it isn't gambled away within a week of payday. I am back and I am here to stay!

i feel cured but maybe that's because I have amazing people around me.

here is to a gamble free future!

onwards and upwards

Hi fighter one this is Jen. I just wanted to give some words of encouragement and respond your post. You should be very proud of making six weeks. Whether or not you have any relapses which is part of being on the way to recovery you're knowing you can make six weeks so no matter what that is a badge of honor and I hope that you don't have any slip ups and are able to keep building on that! It sounds like you have an amazing life. And that is something to live for.!!! Congrats

Hi Jenilee,

Thanks for responding to my thread. And yes, luckily I opened my eyes to what I stood to lose in time. When I gave up before no one knew I had a problem so it was easy to slip back in!

I hope it continues as I really feel great looking forward.

im wearing the badge 🙂

Way to go Fighter_1...

I too had unwavering support from my incredible better half & handed over control of my finances...Meh, could I have felt more ashamed 🙁 I now have my card back & today took money out of a service till without being scared for the 1st in my adult life!

Look after that badge & look after your amazing wife - ODAAT

Thank you guys!

just worked out when my last bet was and it turns out it was 61 days ago! found it great not keeping a count as there no pressure and really don't feel the need to as I don't feel like I'm going to gamble again!

its been great getting Xmas presents without worrying about how I am going to be able to buy them!

Looking forward to an Xmas where I am not desperately looking for some obscure sports match to bet on!

I would also implore anyone who wants to know how badly we lie, cheat and decipt when we are gambling to watch a programme I found on YouTube:-

BBC moving on - Punter

it's amazing how many parallels there are in the life....more motivation to keep on the straight and narrow if you need it!

Went a watched a local match at a sports club yesterday afternoon. Boggy pitch and awful standard but I loved every minute of it! My love of football is well and truly back now I'm not willing the ball to go out for a corner constantly or needing a goal in the next 10 minutes.

Originally I thought I would need to stop watching it to control the urges - far from it!

Couple of cracking matches on the box today and I can't wait to watch them for what they are 🙂

keep strong people!

Too right ODAAT!

Each gamble free weekend I am learning to appreciate my free time more and more. I am not out with the wife constantly on my phone checking for scores or winning bets. It's a truly liberating feeling doing normal things like I used to do.

work over for the year now time to relax and enjoy some quality family team!

Merry Christmas

Christmas has been and gone and still no gambling, approaching the 70 day mark and feeling great,

buying a load of tiles tomorrow which should be fun still at least the en suite will look better than if I gambled all the money away 🙂

christmas with the family was amazing...phone stayed in my pocket with no bets to check. Makes me realise what a lucky man I am everytime I look at my wife 🙂
