Good evening,
I will try to make it short.
I have lended money to a friend a few years ago. Like £2000. I have had a few hundreds back after I sent a letter from a bailiff. He said he was not upset at me.
He stopped payments since a few months. I would like to talk to him, he has not been replying since last week.
what should I do ? I told him I know but he said he only does it occasionally. Not true . He said that he used to drink and gamble in pubs, online etc …He does work. I’m sure he has not stopped.Â
Hello candy,
You are kind person,
I appreciate that loss of your money that you believed would have been returned is impacting on you. We are a UK-based charity that helps people to reduce their gambling harms but giving legal advice is not within our remit. With regards to yourself it sounds like you have already started to pursue professional avenues. If you have not already you could try contacting your local www.citizensadvice.org.uk
We do support people affected by another person’s gambling in our Friends & Family Chatrooms, our Friends & Family Forum thread and you/they are welcome to talk to an Advisor on the National Gambling Helpline 0808 8020 133 anytime.
If you have concerns about your friend, you can relay to them that we are here to offer free support for gambling harms in the UK including self-paced learning, 1-2-1 Practitioner support and Peer support. I would emphasise that this would be his decision whether to ever contact us.
Best Wishes for a resolution,
Louise
