I stopped gambling three years ago and have not looked back. I self excluded from everywere, online and high street, did a spot of counciling, all happy days. Last Saturday i checked my credit report only to find that bloody my green had performed a soft check on me. Of course its not the end of the world, but when my wife sees it, she will worry that the bad old days have returned. I have contacted there customer service team, but as with all these things they just brushed it under the rug, and are ignoring me. Anyway, i personal think this is bad form and should not happen. Any advise on this would this help.

Hi

What specific advice are you looking for mate? The soft check? Seems odd that they would do this but couldn't you just explain to your wife that youre as non-plussed as she is about it, call the customer service on loudspeaker and get them to verify why this has been performed and also confirm that you haven't actually used the account for over 3 years? That should do it shouldnt it?

Incidentally...

Don't you think your name is a bit rubbish? Why would you join a forum for people whose lives have been destroyed and turned upside down by problem gambling and call yourself after a notorious online casino? Isn't that a bit insulting to the others on here? Sort of rubbing gambling in our faces?

The idea on here is that we are trying to put this misery behind us, not revere the very miscreants that put us in this mess by creating profiles which pay tribute to their names?

Would you consider changing your profile name?

I am still finding the original post somewhat bizarre... Please clarify if I have missed the point as your situation seems pretty easy to sort out...

You don't work for Mr green's marketing team do you ???

✌️ Good luck getting the wife onside mate

Ps as an afterthought I remember using Mr green frequently at one stage and they had this philosophy called 'green gaming' which was to do with promoting responsible gaming and looking after their customers (??) So you probably consented to regular soft checks while you have an active account when you signed up without realising at the time? I hope that helps to answer your 'question'

Close the account and the soft checks should stop happening?

Hi

I would raise the issue again and push it further though.

I would say to everyone make it a matter of pride to defend yourself against these people and create a bit of a stink over it.

I cant stress enough that these people have nothing on offer but misery. Its legalised drug pushing and I have studied this addiction in detail. I know how they get away with it which makes it really disturbing. The fact that they are allowed into our homes and onto our credit reports is nothing short of a national scandal...a scandal that should be ready to blow big time

My stance is that financial institutions should NOT allow gambling transactions and that a credit record of gambling companies should ring a massive alarm bell. Therefore I understand your concern

So I would make an issue of contacting this gambling den and the credit report company...along the lines of you want nothing to do with these soft searches, you want them stopped as you feel they are acting illegally and it had better not cause you any problem or you will take it further. Tell them you are firmly anti gambling

From the report company you want written confirmation what a soft search means as they have done this without your consent. It does affect how people see you because the credit report companies dont tell us everything in my considered opinion

I fear you will only get so far with it but its a matter of pride. The problem is that Gambling dens are devious and they dont care. the government doesnt care and the financial institutions dont really care until they look at a loan application.

All the best

Hi Frederick

It crossed my mind today that when we corresponded previously I forgot to mention one crucial thing and that was massive congrats on not gambling for 3 years. You should be mega proud of your achievement and certainly takes some serious cojones to make it that far ?✊

re the situation with the missus - it also dawned on me that maybe some of the residual lack of self-worth is left over from your gambling days? Because the thing, you've done nothing wrong my man, in fact all you've done is good and righteous in terms of giving up the ghost.

You can prove to your missus easily that the soft check was something you inadvertently signed up for... You should be holding your head up proud not cowering at the prospect of being cast in a bad light, a light that is not yours to stand in these days.

Your side of the street is clean - I know when we were in action we had a disposition to brandish ourselves as immoral, disingenuous, untrustworthy but you don't have to tarnish yourself with those brushes anymore, you have put the work in.

You just explain to the missus what the situation is, where this soft check may have emerged from and most importantly, don't feel bad - don't feel like you've done anything wrong ?✌️ that's old hat that is ?

Thanks friend for that last post. You are dead right. My fear for telling my family is from the dark days. I will hold my head high tonight and tell them what is happening. I have had some come back from the gambling company in question and will update when i have more to say. Thanks again to all.
