So, after starting work and digging myself deeper into debt, I went work Friday night, went on my first break and decided to gamble. I'd won more than I wanted but got greedy and lost it. I'm now waiting for a taxi to go home mid shift without telling anyone.. I don't care what happens if I'm honest, I don't enjoy my job so it's whatever. Not sure how I'll pay my loans but I don't care about that right now either I just want to get home and gamble my last £5 in the comfort of my bed then go sleep. I don't think anything will ever be enough or that I'll ever be happy. I'm not suicidal at all but I'd be more than happy to die, life isn't all that appealing if you ask me.

You can ring work tell them you was being sick and you got yourself home. Sure then tomorrow you can save the job. Right now your gutted with how things have happened, losing your job isn't the answer. Go to the doctor and ask for help, low mood, depression. Even counselling.
Why not ring gamcare tomorrow morning?

Not a fan of lying, I told them I just had to go home, if it happens again I'll be fired, hopefully I can hold myself together and pay what I need to before that happens.
Doctors don't help, I don't have the energy to go to the doctor just for them to send me here or give me anti depressants for a month.
I'll be fine, just feeling a bit down.
I will share my story with you. I was the same as you. Two months of gambling have cost me around 25k. All the money I have worked for so long were gone, just like that, up and down, up and down. Went into overdraft, pay the overdraft with the payslip and whatever is left, straight back on it. because its clear that with 17k annual income, will take years to get it back..So I had to borrow money for rent, lie.. and worst of all it changed me, I started stealing.. I got caught stealing from work, police came... I mean can you imagine, I was without money, my car has no insurance, no MOT, no road tax paid, and I am a thief. Police comes, asks why you did what you did, every thief has a reason, its either a junky or maybe a gambler.. Is this my first time , I said yes.. then they checked my car, but I was surprised they didnt check insurance road tax mot, they were very much into what is stolen, because a lot of stuff was missing, and as I became a thief I realized there is others too, that are doing the same. I was lucky they didnt find out my car has no mot, insurance, road tax. To this day I feel such a shame, because I knew ppl there, and left as one of the bad ones. But this addiction has changed me, my depression, anxiety has changed me. I put myself in the positiion of my colleagues and I get them, because when I was normal I would do the same. I would look at the thief as a mean bad person. anyway.. Because it was my first time to commit a crime I was just warned, community service.
Since that moment, I have realised what I have become. I am a well educated person if I may. raised in normal famly, average family. I have told none about all of this, to this day. I told my parents that I have quit and then I got another job, saved enough money to get out of the country. I did invest in myself. Started learning french, Some training for butcher, got C + E professional license renewed (because a drunk gambler couldnt even pass the medical exam). Because it was clear that with thieving and gambling I am not getting anywhere, it leads to disapointment to family and to yourself, leads to shame, guilt and regrets. Time is precious use it. Be proud of the money on your account knowing you have earned them honestly. I have now moved out of the UK. I got married and have a daughter. My annual income is now maybe around 50 k. All of that happened in less than 2 years. I am 27 now. you can change some things, you might not be able to change some, but you have to try a different method. We have tried gambling and its not the way, mistakes happen. try something else.. Best regards
Hi, Admin, please can you move this thread out of Family and Friends? It’s one of four that are in the wrong place. Thanks.

Wow, thedude1991, that was inspiring.. I mean it's easy to the your great redemption story after the fact but hard when you're in the moment. I don't think I have the same drive you do with learning a new language or moving not even out the country but to a different place, but I'm really happy for you. I'm glad you overcame that and 50k is NICE lol, maybe I need to sit down and think about what I could do to make some serious money because I am someone who relies on money for my happiness and it spills into all aspect of my life when I don't have any.
I'm in a good place right now, had a good shift last night so feeling positive.
Cynical wife, I haven't posted in f&f and even if I did stop being a snitch
No snitching or telling teacher of you but it’s a glitch that yours is one of a few threads which also show up in f&f.
i know exactly how you feel, its a vicious cycle. i finally registered with gamstop after over a year of gambling and losing all my savings (which is a lot). i have no money now and i feel so down. i recommend registering with gamstop. as you will always feel the urge to go and gamble again once you have some more money in your account. gamstop will put a stop to it

I am just a butcher. But Its Switzerland, and thats just an average salary here.. still working on the language though.. there are jobs that pay a lot more than that.. Professional lorry drivers can make up from 85-120 K, thats swiss francs - for example
