Following on from my previous post a year ago  . I stuck around supported but decided to live separately. Reducing the risk I was taking . He has done well and gambling is under control and no relapse. Everything going great .
but now I feel he is addicted to alcoholic. . Occasional drinks but its to the level of dangerous , cannot talk gets messy and
Is completely unaware of anything. I know this is binge drinking. But because of the addictive personality  it has become a serious problem . As I said it’s not often we would drink but on every occasion it happens.

I feel like I have a 3rd child that for his whole life needs to be minded.

Does gambling and alcoholism go hand in hand ?

Hi

yes, all addiction, addictive behaviour. It’s all self medication, ‘using’ to reach oblivion or feel numb. Never dealing with the real issues or looking at ‘self’ to recover, to be a better person. Try and look at yourself and see how you can change your behaviour. The only person we can change if control is ourselves. Stop worrying about him and thinking he’s your child.

@merry-go-round thanks yes you are right . I can’t change anyone or make them do it . They must do it for themselves
