Hello

I found out last year in October that my boyfriend is a gambler and he has a huge debt. He told me that himself, he also assured me that he is looking for help and has already a ban in place and first meeting with the psychologist done.

We live on Estonia and there is not a forum like place for me to talk about anything (neither can he), so I hope its okay I write here. In Estonia we have also gaming ban, but you can still gamble in other countries.

Anyways he lied and lied, even about the amount (at first it was the same amount he bought his car so about 20k), but because how high it is his debt counsler told me the correct amount and also said the only way out is to declare bancrupcy. So he has 50k debt, it ment he had to pay every month 2000 euros, but he only earned like 1200 eur per month....so i was absolutley wrecked mentaly. Now I am better and we are even both going together to a psychologist, but i still cant shake the feeling that I have no idea how can he like make himself stop gambling with just like some sessions with the therapist? It seems at the moment that he says its so easy, that there are no urges etc,  but it just seems so weird considering the fact that with 1,5 years he gambled away so much money...

Also l I dont see that he has to do anything, only 2 times a month counsling via webcam. Is that all that it takes? I know its probably different for all people, but is it really AS easy AS that?

I think it would be easier for me if there would be something I could actually see him doing, instead of just saying things. I am just afraid I'll waist my time with him. Before this we were about to go to the fertility clinic to start IVF ( before we had tried for 2 years without luck), but now I think it might actually be a sign for me....

Any advice would be appriciated. Its not much information in Estonian and my boyfriend says that he does not understand enough english to read or listen to anything in english.
