Actually I've just become curious about the above subject. Why is there no personal message option on this website? Another forum I use for my anxiety issues has one as do many others.
Does everything we say or do on this forum have to be there for everyone to read? Surely if we feel a real rapport with someone we could exchange messages without having to go through the moderators to exchange email addresses?
Why can't their be an option to exchange personal messages? I'm sure there is a perfectly reasonable reason like keeping people "safe" etc. but I'd love to know why exactly why it is. Best wishes, Phil.
Dear Phil,
I'm not sure of the exact reason for not having a PM option. I'd say the forum is public for a good reason as a lot of people gain a lot from reading the thoughts of others. And yes, I think there is a safety in content being public, especially when people come to the forum in crisis. If you do want to contact someone privately, we're happy to swap email addresses so you can, and both parties have to agree before anything is swapped.
Sorry but I don't think we have the plans or resources to make changes in the very near future to this, but we can bear it in mind.
Hope this is of some help
Rebecca
I appreciate your feedback but the forum I use for my anxiety issues is run on a shoe-string and still has a PM option. Best wishes, Phil.
There is a way it can happen by contacting forum admin if both people are in agreement but friendships come and go on here very quickly as certain posts indicate.
I have a circle of good GC friends (both past and present users) who i communicate outside the forum walls and it works well.
In essence it can work but it needs the right people communicating

An ' open forum ' is surely an ' open forum ' ??? So possibly the anxiety forum you mention have it wrong and Gamcare have it right as anxiety can stem from private chat about other users is surely another recipe for anxiety.... My humble jacket put back on
So I don't get the request ? so agreed with Bal
Thanks for the responses. I was just curious.
Affected by gambling?
