Embrace the spam. It's a cry for help.

Back to the drawing board admin? Spam in newcomers. Again.
Hi Twinklyr (and all)
I can only say that we are still pushing the developers to work on this. They have installed three Capchas to stop the spam but for some reason it isnt working. We'll continue to delete as and when. I can only apologise for now.
Rebecca
Honestly, other forums I go on, you need to have posted 5 times before you can create you own thread. Never any spam.

On the face of it, its a good idea. I imagine it encourages posters to support other people needing support?
Yes, would be a good idea. Maybe they have to make 2 posts on here before starting a thread. I suppose there can be a sense of urgency to join and post. Posting 5 times might be too much to ask initially.
This forum has helped me no end, but now it's pretty much rendered useless to me as I tend to come on first thing in the morning. These days I just leave within 30 seconds, whereas I used to spend 10-20 minutes reading.
Makes me wonder if I'd have come this far, if the forum had the spam issues 9-10 months ago.
Please can you delete the spam again?
well Ive just seen 2 and a half pages of " University of" Spam so the captcha is not stopping that. Somebody must be sat there doing multiple posts.
I cant even see what theyy are trying to waste our time with as its in Chinese.
the problem seems to be that a recovery forum should be spontaneous and if people have to register and it takes 24 hours to view posts it might put them off.
I dont think we should all be doing captcha because of these spammers...Then again they must see this forum as an easy target.
Oh well its the internet age I suppose but these spammers should be ashamed of themselves
Dear all,
Thanks again for your ongoing feedback and suggestions for preventing spam posts on the forum. We will bring your posts to the attention of the forum manager who continues to monitor the situation, considers your feedback and instructs the website developers.
Kind regards,
Forum admin.
Erm....don't know if anyone else has noticed but there might be just a "little" bit of spam on the forum again....
Thanks for letting us know Phil72 it has now been deleted.
Best wishes

Still some Spam - not so much thankfully. What can the consequences of opening it be? A virus? Damage to your computer/phone whatever?
.
Such a shame spam is getting in the way of this great forum!!!
Other forums have a delay before a new user appears but its an awkward one when new members want to post. They are already feeling vunerable so a message saying wait 24 hours is not helpful to them
I think its why this forum is being targeted by these spammers and they must be sat there posting as a machine couldnt get past captcha. Its just scams and junk. I cant even see that its worth their time which is doubly annoying. Trouble is that scammers like that will register then try and bombard their junk mail
It took me around 13 goes the other day to pass captcha and its making me post less. Store fronts and mountains are particularly annoying as some pictures have hills and its not entirely clear. steet signs overlap some squares slightly so thats not clear either
I think something has got to be sorted out so we all arent having two to ten goes on captcha every time
Affected by gambling?
