I last posted on here 7 months ago asking for help with my gambling habits and nothing has changed since that day. It feels like its got worse. I lose my wage which is $800 in a matter of days. It feels like theres no end to it all. I have become so used to the feeling of losing that im numb to it all. I fear that this will carry on into adult life and i will have nothing. I have tried several times to quit, including blockers and councelling but neither have worked. I always find a way to bypass the restrictions and i couldnt keep going to a weekly session talking about my gambling as it was embarrasing. Its not sports betting either, Its slots, dice and roulette which means that i can get carried away. I dont know what to expect by writing this message on here but i needed to get it off my chest, since i cant come around to talking to the people around me about it.Â

Good Morning Jack,
Amanda has offered good advice in the post above. She has advised that you call their helpline where an expert will help you. This should be the first thing that you do. It might change your life. It might not but it’s worth the effort.
Thats where stopping starts. Effort.
Once you get on the road to recovery more effort is required. Start a diary on here and post once a day every day for the first month. Fill your diary with thoughts, reasons for quitting, past experiences and how they made you feel etc. people will support you but we need to know about you and regular posting puts you out there for all members to see. I missed your post 7 months ago. Post everyday and you’ll never be missed again. This forum is full of knowledge and experience. Many on here were you once and now they’re not because they learned how to stop.
If blocks and councillors didn’t work for you and you feel as though you put your full effort into that then fine. On here you’ll learn about others ways to be successful.
I have to say speaking to someone isn’t embarrassing. Rather, its brave, courageous and shows maturity and a willingness to succeed. When I was your age embarrassing would be not being able to go out with friends because Ive gambled all my money away. Embarrassing would be not being able to buy a car, take a nice girl out somewhere nice or go on holiday with my mates.
If I were you I’d probably give financial control to someone for a month when I’m next paid. Again, this takes courage. Mothers are fabulous for this type of thing. Mothers love to help their sons without judgement. I’m not wanting to encourage you to lie but if you’re not ready to tell her about your gambling problem then tell her you’re trying to save and you need some help with this.
You are young and have your whole life ahead of you. Thousands of problem gamblers would give their right arm for the opportunity you have today. To be able to go back to 18 snd fix the problem so that they don’t have to encounter the problems they have 20 or 30 years later through their addiction.
Do whatever it takrs to build a fabulous future.
Good luck.
RR
