Hello everybody. I just wanted to share how amazing I feel  in the 2 weeks i haven’t gambled. I have a total different outlook on life now and mentally have not felt this good in years. I have been stuck in the same routine for years it all starts with a drink sometimes ended up having C*****e and it always ended up with gambling on my phone till the early hours of the morning. I have not realy lost huge amounts but when you add up the odd bet here and there and scratch cards and lotterys plus those horrible instant win competition sites that are so addictive you don’t realise how much you are actually spending until you add it up. I’ve never thought of myself having an addiction until 2 weeks ago when I was just either drunk gambling or hungover gambling and relised how much I had actually spent. I told my partner about it and wanted to nip it in the bud before it was too late. Well I haven’t gambled since haven’t even thought about it been doing fitness and cooking  and walking and I feel great. Obviously alcohol is my trigger so going to take a few months off from drinking to get my head back to normal but I know I’m in a different place now and just wanted to share as I have seen a lot of new posts with people feeling depressed and sick of there life I felt like that too a few weeks ago but just find a new hobby or transfer that addiction to another one like fitness which is working for me. All the best everybody and I hope your journey to recovery succeeds.

Well done on your journey. That is awesome. I think of stopping gambling as getting out of gaol. When the urge strikes I say to myself , "Do I really want to go back to gaol? Isn't it much better to be free!"

@wv35if2omg my heads clear and I feel great. Drinking is my downfall after 2 pints I’m a totally different person so think stopping that for a while will benefit me in the long run. Don’t even miss it I was just stuck in a routine this is the first time I have stopped the routine and I feel better than I have in years.

with all due respect 2 weeks Is the tip of the iceberg your still in the honeymoon phase of recovery and will be until around month 2

This is when the challenge really begins , when you have forgotten about the losses & the frustration

You have a bit of money left at the end of the month

Be very very aware of complacency
