Good morning everyone,

Today is my 45th day of being GF. I must admit last weekend was awful for me, thinking about the past and the extortionate amounts of money I have lost over the last 9 years.
This week has been a better more positive week for me.

Breaking bad habits and cycles is key for me, every morning I wake up I would grab my phone and log into my sports betting app to check the fixtures and odds. Find a match and that selection would stay in my head all day making me think “if I don’t place this bet now after picking the team I would be mad with myself” obviously I would and it would lose.

Prior to being an addict, I would place just small bets once a week, no more than £5, I remember the day when my mindset changed, Christmas of 2015, I received a bonus at work, instead of £5, I placed a £20 bet and then I was hooked, loans, remortgages, credit cards and lost redundancy money 9 years later I have lost £250k.

I’m now 42 and in the last chance saloon to try to save myself from total mental & financial ruin. In 3 years I will be debt free, paying £1400 of my wages towards a gambling addiction is hideous, it’s only now I have stopped that hits home.

But with dedication, determination & discipline I have to accomplish this for myself and my family. Thanks for reading. Thank you to Pink Lady & Tazman for always commenting.

Keep the faith

Onwards and upwards King.  You are still young enough to be able to pay off your debts and enjoy life with your family, remember this.

Take care and keep doing what you are doing, day at a time. 👌.

Pink Lady 🩷🍎.

Well done King, reading your story is very similar to mine.

Trying to forget about the losses and not letting the debt get you down is the hardest part of recovery I think.

Everyday we don’t gamble is another step to happiness. Keep going, you are doing so well.

G

Great stuff mate, well done. You hit the nail on the head. Breaking the gambling habit is key for me too. I craved for it at certain times. Now I've replaced those times with other tasks and I'm a much happier, healthier person for it.

Keep up the great work 👍
