Just keep reading and posting. This has been my first week for a long time without gambling and I have spent hours on here reading and writing. Every one's life is different, but you read the similarities in your feelings and habits and you realise that you are not mad!

The difficulty is not necessarily to stop gambling - thats the easy bit - its the never gambling again thats tough to control.

We can all manage a few days/weeks, normally to get our finances back in order, and thats when it creeps back in again - the false hope that you can manage it.

Dont gamble today - deal with tomorrow in the morning, and then dont gamble. When you feel a craving, read some of the diaries on here - its easy to get absorbed in someone's life and pain, and distract you enough from the urge.

One day at a time, even an hour at a time. Pick up the phone and call a friend, break your habits and access.

You can do this and it will only benefit the your life and those that you love

Good luck

Well done liggypops.

If you like you could keep a diary in the Recovery Diaries section of the forum, or join one of the challenge threads where people will share friendly encouragement with you week after week: http://www.gamcare.org.uk/forum/2016-challenge

You're also welcome to join the community chat rooms if you'd like a group chat in real time.

Previously you posted about how it isn't convenient for you to travel, so I'll mention the online counselling service in case you're not already aware: http://www.gamcare.org.uk/support-and-counselling/free-counselling/online-counselling

Many of our forum members who are quitting online gambling have posted about how it can help to self-exclude and to install blocking filters or parental controls; http://www.gamcare.org.uk/get-advice/what-can-you-do/blocking-software

Well done again on the effort you are making to break free from gambling.

Take care,

Forum Admin.
