Hi,

I have thought about doing this for months and months now but never did it. Online slots are just killing me. Started off small but it’s gotten worse and worse and worse. Doing in £500 a day sometimes, to the point now I’m squandering bill money and in debt. My partner doesn’t know about my addiction 🙁 I’d do in a load of money then somehow get a little hit and think ahh it’s ok it comes good in the end.. then I’d put all that back on and more.
enough is enough now. I hate the way it makes me feel and how it’s effecting my health.
so I’ve just signed up to gamcare.

day 1 of being gambling free

Hi,

I've only just started out on this journey as well. Day 5 for me!

The most important thing I've found is making sure you have someone to talk to when you need it, wether that be online or offline. Also, have the used the procedures GamCare has to offer which allow you to block your access to online gambling on your devices? If not, I'd recommend these. Block all avenues.

Good luck with your journey and best wishes!

Hi,

Yours is a very similar story to mine. I’m now on day 24 and it’s getting easier. I’ve confided in a very close trusted friend as there is no way I can tell my partner. We’ve been together 30 odd years with kids, grandkids and I know it would be totally life changing if he knew. Thankfully we have good jobs so there was no debt. I have put all the blocks in place and self excluded from all sites. I have also shut my bank account that I used for gambling.

I feel so much more healthier and able to sleep and also focus better at work. I had a real test last week as I went to a bingo hall for a night out with friends that was organised months ago. Couldn’t believe how many slot machines are now there as I hadn’t gone to a bingo hall for years. Didn’t even feel tempted as it was about catching up and having a good laugh with my friends.

I am enjoying going out spending money on clothes and other items without thinking I need to move some money into my account to gamble with.

Good luck on your journey and believe in yourself that you can do this.

Never been overly fussed with Slots although the bonus features are fun , you can end up in a situation where by it takes over your life and you become zombified

that is ultimately what the casinos and bookies want you too pump your cash in mindlessly winning or losing it all goes back in

£500 a day isnt sustainable for anyone , get the bans & self restrictions in on the accounts then start taking it one day at a time

Day 1 is just a goal. Even if you make it years. Back to day 1 you go. If you can make it one day gamble free. You are strong enough to do life gamble free. Be strong my friend

Hi

Being clean indicates that you are starting to value your self.

Clean days can not be lost.

In time we stop beating ourself up.

Living in guilt and shame indicates that we have a healthy conscience.

There is nothing I can do or say to change the past.

Just understand that in the past I was a very unhealthy vulnerable person.

It is important to put value on self.

To write down our needs our wants and in time healthy goals.

The gambling establishments did not make me do anything I did not want do.

The gambling establishments did not make me lie I did that to my self.

In time I got to understand what my unhealthy emotional triggers were.

Healing Love and peace to everyone.
