Hey, it's the first time on here so a little unsure of what to expect . My Boyfriend has got himself into a large amount of debt from being a gambler.
Hi EmmaLF.
Please phone gamcare as many times as you want because you will need help and support to learn about this horrendous addiction.
If you can speak to family and friends you will build strength to be able to make a decision.
Its not your fault so firstly you must protect yourself and quickly. Then you may be able to help him from a position of security. Unfortunately many partners find that distancing themselves is the best way.
Im not saying he is a bad person but he needs help and he needs to be ready for help. You cant help him if he is not willing to surrender to this fact and his money will need to be controlled by others.
Gambling addiction is no silly game about a flutter...it is a full on drug addiction which totally destroys people and takes their partners along for the hellride downwards.
You have a job on if you choose to help and a decision to make. Only you can make that decision.
Best wishes from everyone on the forum
