Hello.
I'm really struggling to give up online gambling, started at a young age and it keeps getting worse and worse. I don't even know why I do it, I know I'm in debt and gambling is going to make it worse, yet I still click on deposit. On the off chance of a nice win, do I withdraw the money? Nope, I'll increase the stakes until my balance is £0, and I have no more money to deposit. Then regret kicks in, until the next deposit.
I dread to think how much money I've wasted on gambling over the years, but I must accept that the money I've lost is gone and gambling isn't going to get me out of debt.
As a starting point, I have installed the software Gamban on all my devices and I hope that this will be the beginning of a better future.
All the best.
Hello PrimeNumber. Welcome to the GamCare forum and well done for taking the step to post your story. It's a bit quiet today, probably because of the bank holiday, but I'm sure others will be along to say hello and offer support.
You've taken a great step in installing blocking software on your devices. If you want to take it one step further, there's also self-exclusion - barring yourself from your online gambling accounts. There's a new scheme called GAMSTOP which will eventually allow you to self-exclude from every gambling site registered in Great Britain. Find out more at www.gamstop.co.uk.
There is a lot more support out there, like free counselling and local support groups. You'd be very welcome to give us a call on the freephone HelpLine on 0808 8020 133, or chat to us on the NetLine if you prefer. We're here 8am til midnight every day.
Best wishes
Deirdre

Mall Hi Primenumber,
Thanks for sharing your story. I know exactly how you are feeling as I done the same in the past . I always thought I could get my money back by depositing more and more money on online sites . It never worked and I ended up in more and more debt . You have to literally stop!! Delete everything and move on with your life . Believe on yourself as you can do this !! All the best
