Hi everyone, first time posting, but I have sat in the online chats now and then.

I'm coming up to 9 months without gambling, I quit cold turkey without any major help, apart from reading on here and with help from family and friends.

I don't want to go into any details as to how much I gambled or anything but I thought over time it would get easier, but if I'm honest, I still think about it every single weekend.

Now I like the idea of falling onto someone or speaking with people, but I feel as though I'm maybe at the stage where that's what I need? To maybe push me through that last barrier?

Any suggestions are welcome ?.

Happy to give my number to someone going through the same or has maybe passed this barrier for a WhatsApp convo?

Can you go to a GA meeting? Well done on 9 months but fighting it all the time is going to be a fight you probably can’t win.

At a GA meeting you’ll meet others like you who are all doing well but it gives you a platform for change as well which is ultimately what needs to happen for long term sobriety.

Hi mate, I'm in a similer position.. I want to stop but every weekend I just want to fill the void and put something on its a constant battle.. when I win I look at the next bet when I loose I want to win my money back.. I'm aware it won't stop untill I make it stop, its good to speak to people on the same level that understands everything.

you don't need help, you need GA with some more self help. Doing it over the internet is what I have to do now but I spent years going to ga and it works if you stick with it.

My advice is not to treat recovery from gambling only via digital means. Even talking to a partner can help you.

Anyways I hope you consider your options and the constant thoughts of gambling go away.

Peace

9 months is absolutely fantastic, maybe the last few steps are being able for people to tell you that?, its hard enough without a few pats on the backs and shared experiences. Good luck keep going it doesnt have to be alone tho.
