Hi everyone, I'm new here and looking to get some advice on recovery and be a regular part of the site. I've had a longstanding addiction which has escalated recently to depths I didn't believe were possible. Feel free to comment back.

My answers were in the diaries in here. I’ve kept one, I’ve read every single one. There are stories of slips, trips, some don’t come back, but mostly there are stories of people beating this. Read them all. Soak up the advice, action it, and keep your own. It’s so beneficial to be part of this community. Your journey has to start with you. Attack it hard, attack it head on. You got this mate

stay strong 💪

As cliche as it sounds, you are the only one that has your answers.

I agree with previous, I found and still find reading other stories interesting, also the friends and family.

You need to understand what it will take for you to stop, if you even want to and the reason why gambling is a problem for you.

I'm a seriously addicted gambler, today I am choosing to not gamble, that will help continue my current streak which is 7.5years, after more than 20 as a very active gambler, I don't post much these days but do quite often read a diary or two.  I have though posted a few times this week and now I need to understand what's happening in my brain, I'm clearly thinking about gambling on some level

Sorry if this sounds convoluted but I hear so many people tell you how to stop but I genuinely think the right way is the whatever it takes for you.

For me, accepting I lost and the bookies won, accepting I was tired, asking for help and then owning all my gambling as being choices I made

It hasn't worked but is currently working, I am and always will be a compulsive gambler, just for today I choosing to not gamble
