Hi everyone been a problem gambler for years I now know I need to stop , I’m a 43 year old with a really good job , nice house , kids and family … everything you could wish for ! However my fruit machine addiction is killing me even more than ever with the new digitised games , worse thing is I know how random they are and still play them! Now 16k In debt but determined to pay it off , luckily I have a good job ! This is my first day of not gambling !!

hi rj, well done for making it here and sharing you’re story, keep coming back and share you’re thoughts and also use the resources available. Using Gamban and other tools to stop online gambling should help you as a good barrier to start off with.

 

just for today I will not gamble.

Day 3 strength is there at the start just need to ensure I stick with it this time, can’t believe how much money I’ve lost in machines pure stupidity and addiction

im the same as you, I will happily go to my local bingo hall and feed those slot machines every penny I have. sat there staring at them like a zombie. It’s taken away my appetite, I can’t sleep and now my mental health is suffering

Congratulations on taking the first step towards recovery by recognizing your gambling addiction and deciding to stop! It takes a lot of courage and determination to break free from the cycle of addiction.

I have just been paid which is usually my pressure point can feel the urge but come on here and reading the stories have stopped me today

Well done rj. Keep going. I've been reading forums such as this one in the hope that just reading others experiences will help me to never gamble again but I think you need to actually write it down, say it, make it a promise to yourself. You have inspired me to do that today so if you keep going, I promise I will too!
