Every month after payday you vow not to gamble this time but lo and behold you make that first deposit which seems a small harmless thing to do at the time which escalates into blowing all your left over salary. I am very frustrated with myself each time. I’m not as uncontrollable as I once was. I do ensure all bills are paid first but I leave myself with no money to live on and enjoy myself with. I live with my older brother who sees I’m ok with the basics but I can do so much better than this. Why do I leave myself broke every time. I may have lost my confidence with holding onto money. Not feeling worthy to have any. I do see a local charity for support once a month and I still work.

Same. I promise to not gamble my whole wage theni get paid. I start small "only gonna play with 50"  and then end up blowing it all too. But I read somewhere that's how the games are programmed so that we get addicted and tricked and conned.

We play small. Win easily so play more then lose. And play again to win it back and we never do. I no longer hate myself for this pattern. Its them. It's how they've programmed the games and they've succeeded.

Anyway I've realised there's no way to stop by will power. Only blocks or where you don't have a choice to gamble. Because if there's a choice we will lose in the end.

I'm on day 3 gamble free.

In sports you are encouraged to try your best and if you get beat by your opponent to try harder next time. Sometimes it works out, you try harder then you win. However with gambling it is the opposite, the harder you try the worse you do until you've lost the lot. Gambling is a 'no win'. Even if you win, you just lose it back later, then you try hard to get your money back then you lose more. The way to succeed in gambling is to not play. That is sad but true.

That's the best thing to do is just not gamble.

Sounds easy but it's really hard and takes a lot of recovery and effort to try to stop this addiction and focus on better things in life.

I used to think play with 20, 50 etc etc now I save 20 or 50:into savings pots for genuinely exciting things in life like going out for a meal or cinema or holidays

My main focus now is my daughter and partner and I like being able to buy them things than think about gambling..

This took 7' years of GA and gamcare to get to this point and it's a hard road with bumps but if you want to be free from gambling... You just have to work for it and do it for yourself to help the ones you love.

@wv35if2omg thank you for your comment. It is exactly true. The only way to stop losing money is to not gamble at all.

@wv35if2omg thank you for your comment. I agree with you. You will never win with gambling it is the road to nowhere. I think what is sad is how many of us get to this point of investing in something that is no good. It seems so unfair.
