I asked the bank to stop all transactions from my bank card today and it was done . So was thinking great I’ll stop betting online using my phone .
only to then still be able to use Apple Pay so the bank stopping transactions a total waste off timeÂ

Ah, it’s the bank’s fault. Not the addict who went on the website, not the addict who tried to deposit through Apple Pay and not the addict who then realised he could deposit and failed to withdraw the money.
How about signing up to Gamstop so you can’t go onto uk based gambling websites? How about installing Gamban or some other type of device blocker for gambling sites?
How about having enough of this addiction and calling Gamcare or gambler’s anonymous for treatment or a meeting?
How about making sure you don’t have access to the money in the early days of stopping gambling?
Hope some of these things might help you.
Chris.
I have a spending daily limit on my card - would that help you - this works for Apple pay as well
Hi @v48wk5txj9
Although I do sympathise with you, the banks are ultimately there to make a profit, they can be helpful with the occasional pro social initiative but I wouldn't rely on them to stop you from gambling, that's not what a bank is for. When I was in a similar position to you I called the bank and begged them to help me by restricting me from making certain transactions and transfers. @chris-uk is right, you have to do something drastic and get to the root cause and not blame the bank ?. I took temporary extreme measures to help myself not gambling. (1) Signed up to GamStop for 5 years (2) cut up debit cards (3) took out a cash allowance from the counter at the bank using my passport (4) stopped using my smart phone and tablet for 2 months, I gave them to my parents to hold. I had calls transferred to cheap non-smart phone so I didn't miss any calls. This was drastic however the point I'm making is I took action by not relying the bank.
Affected by gambling?
