Hi, my name is Connor. I am 20 years old and in debt because of Gambling. I got paid Friday And cleared my debt and went back in the bookies and won my biggest amount of money yesterday so it cleared me free. I sent my dad my wages as he didn't want me gambling as I have a problem which I am getting to see. I have self excluded from all online bookies but keep going in the shops. I am now back into a grand overdraft and my banks messaged me saying about suspicious activity as I have been getting constant cash back all day to keep going on roulette. If my dad sent me my money back I'd still be in debt. I Just Don't know what to do anymore as if I went to my dad he would kill me for it. I would like to know a way with controlling it instead of cutting it out completely. That's my story
Hello ConnorGamerHD
Welcome to the GamCare forum and thanks for telling us your story. I've moved your post to the New Member Introductions section as users are more likely to see it there. I'm sure you will hear from forum members with their thoughts on what you can do.
It sounds like your gambling got very out of control very fast and you're not sure what you should do about the gambling or the debt. You would be very welcome to contact the HelpLine or NetLine (details at the top of this and every page of the site) to talk this over.
Best wishes,
Deirdre

Hello mate,
I’ve lost the equivalent of £5000 in the space of 6 months on football. It seems to be a common trend that most people on here have maxed out credit cards, borrowed money etc. You’ve obviously realised very early on that you have an issue and that’s a massive positive.
Take my advice, you're a young lad, exclude yourself and clear your overdraft.. focus on other things, I see your name says ‘gamer’ so maybe place some more time into that when you would usually be gambling.. or alternatively, take up another hobby!
Best of luck!

Thanks for such kind words. My dad has kept trying to help me and you know what today is finally the day i have realised what i am missing out on. My dads always said to me that think about everything your missing out on by gambling, i dont need to gamble. If I do gamble and my mates come to me and say you coming out tonight, then i have to say no and then that is memories i could make. I have recently just went in another bookies, bought scratch cards and caused myself this problem. Now is really the time to change so thank you
