Hi,

I have been an addicted gambler for around 20 years but for the last few years have had it under control due to having certain blocks in place.

In the last month or so I’ve come across a big problem. My local arcade has recently installed a contactless card machine. This is different to the standard ones you get in more established arcades. They have another one in the over 18 area which does not allow credit card transactions and I am also unable to use my debit card due to having merchant control. However this new machine allows contactless payments of up to £30 in coins on both my credit card and debit card. Is there any way I can stop this as now it’s essentially given me no protection and am finding myself using it 10/20 times in a day, sometimes until I have completely wiped out the machine of pound coins. Surely this shouldn’t be allowed?

I have tried my bank but they don’t seem to understand the issue so I’m not sure if I can block that specific establishment.

As a last option I can self exclude however I sometimes go in with my son along with my parents to play on the arcade games and don’t want them to know I’ve got a problem. Has anybody else ever experienced this issue?

Thanks

Firstly and I mean no harm as I know from personal experience that gambling addiction will not end well it will spit you out and take every bit of self worth and dignity you have .self exclude today from the establishment you frequent put every block in place moses gamban (online)reveal to your parents that you have a gambling problem and don't want too go into the arcade they will admire you for your honesty and will fully support you in not putting your family life and kids in jeopardy .their is so much more to life like going to the park or a leisure centre or a simple walk or picnic.stay safe and let the memories in life with your family be filled with laughter and happy thoughts

Thank you for your reply and I understand this would be the most rational thing to do however telling them or them finding out is just not an option for me due to certain circumstances. They would not understand and I could potentially lose everything and I’m not willing to take that risk. As I say gambling hasn’t been a massive problem for me in recent years until this machine has come along.

Feel sorry for you mate.

There might be reasons why you don't want to tell parents.Everyone can think of few.

I wish you the best
