Hello i am Paul, i worked out a few months ago i had a problem but i just kept on ignoring it... i spend most of my wages and i was even getting out payday loans which come to about 6 grand but the worst part was the begining of october.. i get paid on the last working day of each month and by the 4th of this month i had gambled most of my wages.. i had paid most of my bills but i had to come clean and tell my girlfriend that i had done it again.. which has resorted in me lossing my girlfriend my pets and my flat so i have now gone back to my mums, i constanly get asked if im betting which isnt good. This is no fault of the girl i cant blame her for not sticking around as it has happened on more than 1 time we still keep in contact but who knows hopefully when i sort myself out i might be able to win back her trust. I have been to see my GP but all they could give me is a few numbers and this website. My mum has taken my new bank card so i havnt got any numbers stored on any betting sites or on my phone.

Paul,

I'm new, just trying to find my feet and get through some of these threads. I can relate with your situation. Pushing those closest to you away because of gambling. Keep up the good work. Just keeping telling your self bigger better things!

Hi Paul,

Very well done on 14 days and very well done for getting in touch with step change.

Am sorry to read this addiction has you without your girlfriend at the moment, must have been tough, but the positive is it has made you strong ng enough to abstain for 2 whole weeks, even though you have had continous urges, well done you fit keeping strong.

You need to be one step ahead before payday, by making sure you have every block and barrier in place.

There is a triangle we use on here.

Time

Money

Location.

Take one of these away and it's impossible to play, and that makes a good start to keep strong.

Pay day loans were coming out of my ears at the end, my salary did not even match the payments at the end, and no essential bills got paid.

You have made a very positive start for yourself, and this recovery journey starts with yourself, be kind to you, keep taking one day at a time with everything, and stuff will slowly but surely fall into place,

Well done again and best wishes.

Suzanne xx
