Another day spent spinning and betting my money away but I have had enough of it. I have never really posted online before but this seems a good place to get help and return the favour. I can't stand that sick feeling of losing too much and then chasing your losses and losing more. It is making me sick with stress and causing lots of problems in my relationships. I gamble so I can win money and do nice things for the people close to me but in reality it seems I could just not gamble and use the money I already have.. but this is never the case. Friends and family don't seem to understand how addictive and destructive gambling can be. Any advice or sharing of stories would be much appreciated, thank you.

Hi Kyleb606,

You've taken the right step in seeking help on here and hopefully it's the first step on the road to recovery.

You say people don't understand and your right they don't, it's difficult when you don't suffer from an addiction as you struggle to emphasise but there are people out there like me who do understand.

To be honest i can't really advise you because I don't know what works for you. There are many of different coping strategies and mechanism out there it's trying them out and seeing what works for you. I'm sure others will come on here to advise you.

I know I say it a lot in my posts but speak to a gamcare advisor, they are trained and can spend time going through different options with you. If your truly ready to give up and accept help then in no time you will have money in your bank and be in a healthier position.

Take care,

hi kyle, thanks for posting on my thread. Def going to take your advice and try and greatly reduce the amount of sport I watch as it stirs up the gamblings demons in my head. I think we are both lucky to have found this site and we should follow some of advice from some of the users who have been around a while and have been successful in beating this terrible addiction. I def not in position to give you any advice of my own kyle but I wish u all the best in your journey and hopefully this day month we will be 31 days gamble free, thats my first milestone

Hi Kyle I'm new too, I feel the same. It spirals and you can't get out. I hope you feel like I did, that you're saying something somewhere calling for help. Keep going and keep sharing, I'm trying to. You're not alone, I check in about 2-3 times a week at the moment sometimes I post sometimes I read. You're not alone. Xxx
