I am finding this a very strange thing to have to do and really hard I am an addict and the only person I told Is my dad.
Hi Tash.
You have taken the first step by facing the fact that you are an addict.
I would be interested in how this affects your daily life.

Hi Tash
Well done for telling a family member! the more people who are nearest and dearest to you know about your problem then the better they are to support you. in my experiece the more people you are accountable to then the better chance of recovery. Stay in the forum, consider GA or therapy (if not already) and give control of your finances to your dad if possible.
Good luck.
Thank you so much I have been gambiling for the past 2 years on and off it has now reached the stage when i run out of money I need to find money I have stolen from my dad he is aware and has forgiven me although finding it hard to forgive my self I started to take out payday loans and always on sites playing slots today is the start I really want to stop I hate what is making me lying to my husband and Mot giving my kids the attention they deserve i can't tell my husband as things aren't easy and he can fly of the handle my dad is also an addict so understands what I going through all though he used to use casinos and betting shops I know I need to go to meetings in the past when I was younger o attended meeting with my mum and dad I don't no if I could go as my husband would question where i am going thanks Tash
Hi Tash,
Welcome to the Forum!
You've made some important steps in the right direction, like admitting to yourself that you have a problem and talking to your dad about this. And you say that you now want to stop.
I noticed that you asked for advice on when stop in a different area of this Forum. How about now?
I wonder whether you might find it useful to talk all this through one to one with one of the advisors here either on the Netline
http://secure.gamcare.org.uk/netline/
or on the Helpline on 0808 8020133
Both services are open from 8am to midnight every day.
An advisor would be able to discuss with you practical strategies, which can help you to make access to gambling opportunities or money more difficult for yourself. There is also a lot of support available to you, which an advisor could help you to look into. And in addition, you will be listened to and can just talk about how you feel about all this.
Congratulations on taking the first steps.
Kind wishes
Gabriele
