Hi Ben! Congrats on your 7 weeks. I am 11 days in, but look to people like you to know that there is hope if we all support each other.

Hi Ben

It is curious that you have been going to GA for 18 months and are only 7 weeks gambling free. I would be very interested in an expansion of your thoughts. I first went to GA about 5 years ago and am now nearly 7 months without a bet.

GA didn't have any answers for me 5 years ago, I wish that it had. Even now I work on the theory that 95% is b******t but the other 5% is pure 24 carat gold and that is what keeps me going back. If I never went to GA again I don't think I would return to gambling unless my life meant nothing to me, but I will continue to go regularly because that 5% enhances my life irrespective of anything else.

All the very best

Ken

Hi guys

Thankyou for your replies. 18 mths in GA I managed 8 mths clean from my first meeting but during the last 10 mths i have had sporadic relapses. The ONLY option for me is to dust myself down, keep attending my meetings and try, try, try again. Addiction is complex and no two addictions are exactly the same so i understand people have different ways of dealing with it. Wishing all the forum users a happy new year and a gamble free 2014

I got a metal Detector from my mum for xmas. its the coolest present i have ever received!

im a big believer in that the 'reward' part of the brain is different amongst addicts. Not only does my new hobby 'feed' that part of my brain in a safe way, it also gets me out in the fresh air and keeps my mind occupied. I guess you could say im addicted! lol. I thoroughly recomend it. P.s I will let you know when i find my saxon horde so you can see me on the front cover of national geographic!!!!!!!!!
