Hi my name is Adam I'm 21 years old and I am seriously addicted to any aspect of gambling, horses, dogs, football, anything basically you can bet on I will bet on it. This has been going on for a long couple of years now but I've pretty much been in denial the whole time. I am at the stage now where I need help not want, but need. I'm keeping secrets from family and loved ones. I will spend a whole weeks wages in a matter of hours, I even stay awake until the early hours of the morning, laying in bed at 2am 3am betting on whatever is available now nobody can say this is normal behaviour. I need help serious help it is making me want to die that's how bad I feel right now. I am in a very dark place. Any advice would be a massive help.

Hi Adam, it's good to see you have recognised the problem I went through exactly the same thing as you.betting on foreign football teams I knew nothing about and on sports I didn't have a clue about then I unfortunalty got hooked on the online slots which basically ruined my life for s time, spending hours up all night till all my money had gone,Got loads of loans and in lots of debt.you NEED to go to ure nearest ga meeting.seriously I thought I could solve it alone but you really can't u need to talk to people about it who understand and want to support u through it every step.i only started going around 6 weeks ago and it's amazing how welcoming and helpful everyone is.ure mind will become clearer not thinking about gambling 24/7 and being honest will people will help u on the road to ure recovery.ive really found that being honest with loved ones about it has helped me loads.have u told anyone?

My parents know to a certain degree but they dont know the full truth. How i spend all day everyday betting on anything i can just to try and get that buzz of seeing them few numbers of potential returns '£1500' just to get that exciting feeling of checking the results of my bets, i have kept it to myself for a very long time

We can beat it mate! It's just all in the mind I know it is! I have gone bet free now since saturday afternoon (I know thats not long) but to me it is a very long time, if i had to be honest I'd say I've had a bet at least every single day for the past 2/3 years without fail. Most of the time with money I could spend wisely and when I lose I feel sick and depressed and angry with myself! I have no money right now, which is the probable reason I havent been able to bet since saturday! But I have been thinking about it every second of yesterday and today! Just need to keep strong but I know as soon as I get paid on friday im scared i will definitelt be betting!

YES WE CAN!! I managed to stop for 110 days at the start of this year and somehow over the past month let that all go to waste and cocked up again! - trying to fix my debt the 'fast' and 'easy way'. I've realised now I just need to man up and pay it off properly. What's done is done - learn from it and move on!

I think having the debt makes it worse as it's always there looming over you reminding you of what a ***** idiot you've been but hey.. in 5 years or so it will all be gone and we will be a whole lot stronger than our buddies who haven't been through this c**P!!

Instantly feel better having a few of us younger ones trying to beat it together. I personally just put gambling down to being a bad decision (that somehow all of us nutters have made). Theres nobody who can make us stop apart from ourselves. OK we can come on here and moan when we lose money - I did that last time and there are lots of nice people on here who make you feel a bit better but at the end of the day it was me who pressed the button and that money aint coming back

Lets start making better decisions guys - its that simple really is. Fed up of complicating it im my head when the fact of the matter is just dont give in. I'm stronger than that and I know you guys are too.

I'm gonna post on here everyday and set up my own diary soon. I've not gambled since last friday and thats how its stayin. im pretty competetive and im not giving in this time. When I was gamble free for the most part of this year it was great. no worries, paid my loan payments off and enjoyed what I had left - I think they call it 'living within your means' it feels good.

come on guys I wont let you down if you don't let me down!! most importantly let's not let ourselves down!!!!

keep in touch

Guys just think how s**t we would feel if we carried on till we were 30/40/50. lets not let it get that far and just stop now!!

I'm not prepared to lose out on all the fun/adventures/happiness/smiles/laughter/freedom & awesome life experiences we will have when we stop and pay off our debt.

hey lads hope ur ALL ok , we all been hit by a very addictive bug , and brought up in the modern era where its everywhere , i bet almost constantly on B**5 and hardly ever withdrew and when get started on FOBT , the twenties just go in like knife to butter and then you chasing the hope of a big bet to save u and walk home evens ?????

it dont make normal business sense but be brave stick together , you grow older and wiser and realize if u can,t control it stop it

That's not stupid do whatever works for you!

My method which is now working (finger crossed) is taking a realistic look at my finances ie my debt just keep logging in and look at I what I owe! It makes my stomach turn!

Paying the debt is a priority now then I can I live a debt free gamble free life xx
