Hi, on one of your other threads you thought that boredom was what pushed you towards gambling but it is usually more complicated than that. Boredom got me started but after that I was just forever chasing losses.

Are FOBTs taking your money away or are you giving them your money? Do you really want to stop? We all say we do but often what we mean is we want to stop losing money but keep playing.

Not too sure how I can help as I'm in exactly the same situation, I have done ok since my latest loss of 140 on Monday, only 20 or so in a flying visit to the bookies.

But I know that a big loss is imminent as I've told myself 'this is it' several times and it never is.

I'm going to give Gamcare a call if I can't regulate it myself

I genuinely feel for you as I know how you are felling, sorry I can't help more

Ok I've decided that the only way to stop going on these fobts is by self excluding myself from the bookies

I was planning to do this once I had regained my 175 loss but then quickly realized to quit whilst I was behind before careying on and losing more

I now put every penny of my wage into my wife's bank account knowing I can't get access to it and then if I need dinner money I just take my own lunch to work instead that way no access to money

My wife hardly ever touches her bank card only ever for direct debits such as utilities.. She may buy herself the odd thing but never gets silly- she also doesn't gamble so I know my money is safe there

if I need to get petrol she now comes with me to get it and pays on her card for it

I also find that playing video games takes my mind off the gambling and the money I've lost this week alone I could have purchased 3 50 video games

The way I look at it now is by thinking of what I could buy with money Ive lost

Such as food, luxuries and if I save a holiday just not to Las Vegas as planned now ha ha

I have a few things on finance so I'm going to put the money Id usually gamble with on making higher psyments on these to clear the balance quicker

my dog needs her jab on Monday.. I'm going to get her that

all of these things are costing money I wouldn't have if I wasn't going to gamble

So today at my end im skint as the wife has the bank card and money

luckily I'm not 100% addicted as I've only lost 175 and I'm quitting after 4 months of fobt playing

I've decided to just look after myself and my wife and dogs from now on

the bookies can take some other poor saps cash as they've had their last penny from me
