Hi there.
Â
I’ve just had a horrific gambling relapse. As soon as I got paid, all funds went very quickly. I am now in a position where I can’t pay my rent or buy food to get through the month. I have no idea if I can go to a food bank if it was caused by my gambling. I can probably think of a temporary excuse for rent payment. It is my birthday in July. I want this to be the end of my gambling. Any advice gladly received.Â
Best piece of advice I can give you is to do a diary. Even now I use this on a daily basis to write my thoughts and feelings about the gambling  experience. Just like a reminder of how low I felt compared to now. I haven’t bet in just over a year and feel great about it. I still think about the impact it has had on my family but this has been a helpful reminder of how lucky I am to support me through the process.  It also a reminder of what I could lose if I was to continue to gamble. Often we think there is a quick fix but until we accept we have a problem there is no way to move forward.Â
One of the cool quotes Ive heard recently is your not a drop in the ocean your an ocean in a drop. We are all connected. We all struggle we need to have a plan to succeed and we can not go through all of this without questioning things. Letting the world rule you is out of the question from this point. So go rule the world. It is all about what happens within you. You are the captain.Â

What happened to the food bank that you were looking into in February? Did you use a food bank then?Â
Chris.
@chris-uk hi Chris . I was able to get some food donations but not food bank . I can’t believe I’m here in this situation againÂ
@forum-admin thank you so much . If I go to my GP can they refer me to a food bank. I can’t believe I’m in this position againÂ
@cj1974 Good evening,Â
Yes you can get referrals for food banks from the GP so we would really recommend that you get in touch with them as soon as possible. You can also speak to the Citizen's Advice who can provide referrals, for more information please see: https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/debt-and-money/using-a-food-bank/
If you would like to discuss any other support for anything related to gambling, please don't hesitate to reach out to us on the helpline. We are open 24/7 and would be happy to chat through it with you.
Warm wishes,Â
