Money has gone mate, the only thing you can do is try to get on top of your problem. This is a good place to start

Like the first reply said money has gone, it's time to face up to your problem.

Suggesting you to extend your OD is a pretty irresponsible comment, particularly as it's obvious it would be used for gambling. Don't do that, it'll only increase your issues

Hi Norgate and welcome.

Its time to face up to the classic symptoms of a gambling addiction. You will not know what to do about money now and thats what is so dangerous about the addiction.

You have reminded me that I used to spoon cold beans out of a can with the electricity off. Thats pitch black nights in the flat with about a fiver to my name because I had sold some DVD boxsets worth way more than that. However I still returned to gambling when my next payment came in. I lived for a month selling things and trying to eek out an existence on 50p per day but I still returned to gambling. In the more distant past Ive been to soup kitchens and classed myself as homeless after blowing all my giro in an hour. That is gambling and thats how gambling addicts act to survive!

I know its easy for me to say but if you have a full blown gambling addiction your bills are not the main worry...do you understand that because gambling just has a spiral downwards for you

You need to talk about it norgate and reach out to people with openness and honesty. That money has gone as that is what you did with it. You need to be living on an allowance and too much cash in your hand is a bad idea. Someone needs to be monitoring what loans you have and your finances

So you have to tackle this problem and its not just what you will do to survive in the short term. I know its tough. I have been there! Have you any family or friends to talk to?

You need to be honest anout this addiction though and its not about bailing so you can go chase gambling again. Thats what I did. I waved my mother goodbye after taking her money and then went off gambling again. Im ashamed about that now but I was an addict and I wasnt thinking straight.

There is help for you. You can make this history but you need to act now

Best wishes from everyone on the forum

Welcome,

I can only echo what's been said above and that isn't coming from a high-horse or some sense of superiority but from bitter experience.

I often used to feel that I 'had to get the money back' after a gambling loss. This led to taking out ridiculous payday loans (and paying back twice as much) or flogging some posessions for less than they were worth (equally actually increasing the 'real' loss).

The money is a very short term problem (most financial institutions will give you some breathing space) and 'finding' more money at this point will make you feel better but only VERY temporarily. All the time you find a 'quick fix' to replace gambling losses you are just masking the problem while, all the time, making your situation much worse when you actually go to address it.

Confront the gambling and, trust me, although it won't be a smooth road, the money will eventually take care of itself.

Good Luck

Phil
