I got a text from a friend who hasn't seen me in since Christmas. Â
I've totally stop gambling since 5 February 2021 with all the blocks in place (thank god!)
Well, he sent me a text with a horse name and meeting and said lump on it. "Its a sure thing". I have to say I've not been so tempted to gamble since 5th February. Was so tempted to drive to the bookies to do the bet.
But something just clicked in my head and I started to paint a couple off benches in the garden. Then phone the girlfriend just to talk about anything. Time passed and I didnt have the need to do the bet anymore! I'm so proud off myself here writing this. I even sent a message to my mate to say I had a problem and please dont sent me anymore messages like that. He was great and said sorry so many times.
When the girlfriend came home she even asked did I bet as she felt I had a itch to gamble, never so proud to say I didnt!
First major hurdle and i passed, just hoping i can pass the next one too.

Glad your friend now understands and hopefully prevents any more issues like that in the front but be proud you stuck with it and didn't easily just go with it when he made out you was certain to win. The only winners are the bookies and the casinos.
Rightly so that you should be proud of this moment! This will give you further strength to let you know that you do what have it takes to make your own choices..! I'm going to make a very important point that your friend needs to understand its not on. Its actually a test of who your real friends are.
I'm serious when I say you dont need friends who are gamblers and if they dont understand and back right off you have to consider your options
Its an obvious fact that addicts push onto others and feel more comfortable with fellow addicts. Look how quick the smokers group will drop someone who says they wont smoke anymore...same with drinkers and gamblers.
Gambling is a drug addiction and a vice. Its highly addictive and highly dangerous as you have seen
If your friends continue with the cheeky chappy routine and gamblers banter you do not need them in your life.
If they dont understand your wishes, what sort of friends are they? Gambling destroys people and this is no game about a silly flutter.
If they dont want to stop its up to them but it can affect you especially if thats what they mostly do. Â Most gamblers will back off because you are a reminder of their own vices...they wont like itÂ
Its not a wholesome activity which is why many gamblers are secretive
You have better things to do with your time and money.
Its a difficult situation but I know what choice I would make
