It's tough to admit and it's the first i've ever come out and said it but i fear i've taken the first steps to becoming a problem gambler. I've decided that now i need to nip it in the bud before i end up suffering severe consequences.

My problem is with sports betting, i've had a fair amount of success which i've stupidly lost further down the line when i've got in a position to stake larger amounts, i'd then find myself trying to recover the losses quickly by posting silly bets that are highly unlikely to win.

I'd love to be able to not even think about placing a bet when all is said and done, that is my end goal and i hope this site can help me acheive that i dont want to go through the rest of my life with thoughts of gambling going through my head.

Hi RFD

Well done for admitting to yourself that you may develop a gambling problem. Unfortunately chasing your losses with more and higher bets only leads to more of your money being lost.

Keep reading the posts, writing your posts and start a diary as this may help you.

If you haven't done so already you should put a block on your computer and exclude yourself from any bookies you may use. This won't stop you thinking about gambling immediately but will give you some much needed breathing space.

They also have a counselling service on here which you may find useful.

I wish you well in your recovery.

Elfie
