hello all

I had wondered when the day would come where I'd have to post on here.

I've been gambling for about a year on and off but lately it has been worse. I am suffering from a type of depression and gambling gave me hope and something fun. That hope and fun cost me 30k... all of it on credit cards.

I have a well paid job but even then it's going to take me the whole year to get close to paying it off. I'm only 25 but I have ruined everything I have worked for so far. I feel sick about it.

I'm trying to do some work on the side but I'm getting nowhere. I just want to be able to repay these cards quickly.

I hope life picks up this year, but until my debts are at least halved I just feel worse. I'm not gambling anymore, not that I could afford to anyway.

Hi Buddy

Chin up , you have learnt a very expensive life experience , your mid 20,s stop it and work hard and draw inspiration from proper gamblers who has quit for over a year but still remain on there guard , its a progreesive illness which will get worse as you get into your 30,s unless nipped now im 33 still gambling a bit , loosing control doing something silly then sometimes getting lucky break evens but never a proper win for a while now , prob rings a bell , i NEED to FULLY stop and not just cuz ur skint but a whole calendar month , through pay day and all life,s stresses the real challenge

keep in touch tho , debts are debts just pay what u can afford each month they cant ask for anymore , what wud happen if u lost ur job they wud not take u to court just be written off or pay £10 amonth for like 100 years dont worry , money is evil we just think we need it to be happy , we don,t mate

Yeah it's the amount of money that gets me the most. 2 weeks to payday though, paying minimums off as they come in and will get it cleared asap. Trying to do some freelancing work if I can to help, if I could earn an extra 1k a month I would be well on the way! All sounds similar too, always that "but i need to win!" feeling.

Hi I joined today, I've been out of work for 6 months due to illness, the only time I go out is hospital appointments, I always liked a bet but being at home it has escalated to the point of me using payday lenders, I have today had the courage to shut down my accounts but I'm so worried I'll start on new ones, I need to address my debts and I darent tell my partner, he lives and works for me it would horrify him, I just hope I can cope now and fill my time in some other way
