Hi, I'm 18 years old and am quickly becoming addicted to online gambling. I don't play any roulette or poker games, but yet will bet on sports.

Recently I have become addicted to tennis gambling. I mean, 20-30 bets a day at the minimum. I devised a method in which I would bet on someone in play who is winning their match to win the game on their serve, because usually a winning player will go ahead and win on their serve. Coming up with such a method made me feel great, it made me feel as if I was smarter than the bookies and that my ability to devise such cunning plans could never be beaten. However, over the past week, I've been losing. Something has been going wrong. The players have not been winning, and with that I've been placing more and more bets to try and catch my losses back up but the tail keeps getting further and further away from me.

I am currently employed in a job to which I absolutely hate. With minimal social communication every day I find myself taking regular breaks or pulling my phone out at my desk just to put another wild £10-20 bet on, and to then eventually chase that. Because of my horrible working life, I seek other methods of enjoyment and gambling is one of the only things that I find can occur sneakily and within the working premises.

Whilst my losses currently only stand at around £250, I realise that I am only young and I need to stop this now before I do eventually get out of hand and bet in the thousands. I do hope for some support on my journey and thank you all so much.

Good evening gertcha,

Welcome aboard. I can firstly say I only wish I was as smart as yourself in comming on here at 18 posting my concerns on possible gambling issues.

At 18 my gambling started on online sports betting. I have been batteling my addiction ever since being 30 next year.

I have been on and off the waggon not fully committed to stopping however I want to change this time.

Unfortunately I gamble out of my comfort zone and beyond my means of living at times.

When you posted about being unhappy at work I can certainly relate. In previous jobs I have been bored and needed a buzz to keep me going. I had to get out of that job to find a new challenge. That worked for me short term.

I then worked in a job that became more stressful I needed to gamble to try and get that big win to escape the job. I am in that job currently and love it to bits. I ask myself daily what is the point in gambling for those reasons if deep down I am happy. so my new focus is to keep out of trouble. Its time to start manning Up.

Dont chase those losses put it down to experience. Unfortunately there is only one winner.

I would like to hear more on your story in the future and I wish you the best of luck in your jeorney to stop.

I can make money on sports betting all day long. I'm clever, i analyse and i win. You need to realise sooner rather than later, it's not just about the money! It's about being in control of your own life and making your own decisions. Keep going and it will take complete hold of you!

Walk away while you're young and still able to know what you're doing is wrong! Also sort your employment out asap! But also bear in mind that at 18, you still have a lot of experiences to come =). That includes different jobs etc!

Good luck!
