I can’t recall the exact day but my 1 year anniversary of being gamble free comes up in March and I will no doubt be posting again to mark the occasion.
I am extremely proud of myself to get this far and haven’t felt better. I of course miss the excitement but it was ruining my life.
The biggest help was signing up to GamStop and having every measure in place to eliminate the temptation. Luckily I have a supportive partner and parents that have stuck with me through this journey.
The nicest feeling is knowing I have healthier finances, I will be debt free this year, and despite having a good job/salary, paying my debt off, cost of living etc. I still have plenty of money to treat myself and book holidays etc (when we can travel!)
I honestly lost the appreciation of money and can only blame myself for the mess I was once in.
Keep strong during these difficult times, and if you feel / know you are a problem gambler, please take action and put everything you can in place to stop this evil addiction.
Take care and stay safe everyone.
Hi
waking up and hearing your story just inspires me to drive on and beat this. It’s early days for me and what you have done is fatastic. Keep up the good work and I wish you all the best.

This inspires me also... im only 5 days in myself but hopefully im able to post the same outcome in 11 months time..
Do you find your general homelife alot better now also knowing you dont have the pressure of losses hanging over or the feeling you have just wasted what could have been a nice holidays money,Â
i wish there was a fast forward button...Well done and keep it up
Am same spuggy mate. A fast forward button be nice just to get back them horrible losses. But lets just keep at em. Can do this. Keep busy to take our mind off that horrible demon.Â
all best.
Yes i think keeping busy is the key for me, i found myself all sataurday and sundays watching the full days football placing bets on it.. Going to get back into me running and getting the football manager game back on the go for a welcome distraction,
Great post! Sounds like you took a measured approach throughout and with your post you give strong reassurance we can all do it. Thank you for sharing and a lot of us hope to share a similar post in time. Remember; even if you are winning, to gamble is to lose.
this is a BIG HUGE inspiration to me . I have been gamble free for 3 weeks now and seeing your story has helped me massively. I hope to be able to inspire people in a years time with my story. The big thing for me is telling my husband and family. I have their support and to be honest I don’t miss the gambling at all ... i hope this feeling lasts forever. I used to disappear of a night to my bedroom and gamble making some excuse or another. Now i look forward to sitting with my husband talking about the day and doing normal things like watching TV or reading!! Again thanks for your post and well done you. When you are allowed to that money will go on a well deserved holiday ?

Thanks Sean, I hope you are keeping well. Take each day as it comes, put all the blocks in place to eliminate any means to gamble. Let me know how you're getting on.

Thanks Spuggy27 🙂 yes 100% Homelife is so much better, I was in recovery since the first national lockdown, and despite working from home etc. I was able to do a lot around the house. You can't fast forward I'm afraid but you just gotta keep going and do everything you can to stay away from gambling - it's really not worth it.

Thanks for sharing Poblwc, I hope you are keeping well and still gamble free?
You notice a massive shift in relationships with your family when you're not buried into the gambling. You begin to appreciate the value of money and doing things with your family. I've managed to buy a lot of nice things for myself and that could have all burnt on gambling.
