Hi

I would like to rejoin the challenge.

I sadly failed last two times and went back to online tennis and football betting. Now I am self excluded from all online sports betting sites and also for the first time my wife knows everything.

Day 7 completed today and long will it continue

Hi all fellow soldiers. Checking in gamble free on day 40. Had a busy week so apologies for the lack of posts. Feeling good, got paid on Friday so has been a test having the cash flow in the bank with bookies plastered around a short radius from my accommodation. I have been persuaded but firmly shook any urges off thankfully.

Not really much else to report. Hope you all had a productive and successful week. Keep battling on soldiers!!

Many thanks,

Andy

Evening everyone!

What a great day for the challenge - day 1 of check in for the new week and we're already over 25% of all soldiers being safely back at base camp.

A few brilliant posts as well - thanks to Mama B, baggins, Andy and all the rest of today's posters!

mba - you were added back into the challenge with this morning's update - it's fabulous to hear that you have opened up to your wife about your gambling problem - I'll always be certain that that is one of the key requirements of successful recovery.

richy244 - great to have you back richy and it's funny, I was just looking at your name this morning and had worked out an early November anniversary. My ask would be that you set an alarm and check in weekly......especially in the run up to your big day!

Well I'm heading off to bed and getting myself prepared for the mental week and month ahead.......busiest month of the year at work for me in the run up to last despatch dates for Christmas.

Have a great week everyone!

Mr B - checking in with 6 weeks to go until I'm a year clean!!

Hi I'm new to this gamcare forum, my name is Timothy & I'm 25. I've been struggling with my gambling addiction for many years now, I'm getting to the point where I really need to stop my gambling and focus on my life and family.

I'm looking for some motivation to help me stop gambling, I've read the 2014 challenges, I like to make a start on this today and hopefully receive some advice.

Many thanks

Mr tjquigley06,

Try reading through people's recovery diaries and start one yourself. Make comments on other people's and get involved. Id definitely suggest reading mine as I have a family, wife and 2 girls. Its easy stopping after a bad loss and when you have no money, its also easy to start again two weeks later when you get paid. I've tried stopping for the last two years and failed. I have got myself in a situation where if I bet any more I will lose my family. It got to this point where I don't have a choice to stop I just have to and will. I told my wife everything all the loan's credit cards and pd loans. We are begging family for help and its awful. Im lucky she is standing by me. Don't get to this point mate nip it in the bud now.

Thanks mr Brightside , yep telling my wife means no more secrets no more betting behind her back. Such a relief and you are right until she knew I would never have had a chance to stop

Evening all,

A really strong start to the week for the challenge with more than a third of our soldiers checked in and safe at base camp. Great going!

It's T minus 4 for duncanmac on the one year anniversary - excitement growing in the Brightside home!

Timothy - it's a long road fella, but one we'd be delighted to be pounding alongside you - you've made a great decision by joining the GamCare site and that is a huge step in the right direction. My only ask is that you read the member guidelines on the very first post of this 2014 Challenge thread and pop another post onto it that confirms you want to be part of the team - if you do this you'll be added on Sunday. All the very best on your journey!

Have a great week everyone,

Mr Brightside

Checking in for the week, its payday today and I am making the choice not to gamble. The demons came into my head very briefly this morning, but I have put enough barriers in place to defeat them. The usual thought on a pay day is that I can have a few bets, easily get a few hundred up and stop again. This is absolute rubbish and never happens, I don't stop, I cant stop until I have spent all my money. So my money is staying in my bank this month. Not long till Christmas and I will have a gamble free one this year.

Evening all!!

So I'm thinking I like aspects of the new look forum but boy am I going to take a bit of getting used to the functionality! I've yet to work out how to edit the front page and have a horrible feeling I'm not going to be able to.

I might need a training session on it!

Here we go into quiet Wednesday then........hopefully I'll be proven wrong and we get a flurry of activity!

Keep strong troops..........I have a fear that we may see some people struggling with the site..........but we'll get there!!

Hi Mr B

checking in for another gamble free week on the new look website. Like you, I think aspects look good but it does take a bit of getting used to. Keep strong everyone, one small step at a time.

Just regarding the new forum. Anyone know how to go down a few lines as enter doesn't work. Rst.

Update - works on a computer but not on my phone, how very annoying as I do all my updates on my phone, it's a Samsung Galaxy s4 running chrome if anyone uses this to update and knows what the issue is.
