Hi Rst - not sure, but at the bottom right of the comments box there is an arrow - let me know if that works! I'm just trying to get used to the new things too! Well done in your recovery - hope you have a positive day 🙂 Mama B x

Update - Ah that sounds too complicated to me! Hope you find a solution 🙂

Hello all, checking in on day 38. I would like to say its getting easier but it isn't, but the main thing is as much as I am tempted to I have managed to walk away each time.

Its a long road ahead but will get there in the end.

Stay strong all, we are better than this addiction

Hi all

A bit late in the year, but I have only just found this thread.

I have been off and on this site since 2009 trying to quit, abstaining for periods of a few months and then drifting back into my old ways.

My "poison" was/is the FOBTs in bookies. Until the age of 37/38 I had never been into a bookies as I was never interested in sports bets. After visiting a casino every now and then I discovered roulette on the TV in 2007 I think, had a massive win and was then trying to replicate it with every chance I could in the bookies.

I am currently 27 days gamble free, and do not want to drift back. I'm not having any urges and am keeping myself busy with work and good old fashioned family life. In the last 4 weeks I have been more relaxed and happier than I have been all year, even though I still need to work my way through the financial side of the gambling.

At least with not gambling, that bit is only going to improve.

I would be most proud to be part of this group.

evening everyone. weird question i know but does anyone else have the sun+ app on their phone/tablet. I've just been on checking the news and after every 4-5 stories an advert for a casino comes up, where there would normally be the sun+ perks part, so if i hadn't waited and just clicked i would have gone through to a casino site!!!!

I'm going to go onto the sun+ site to see if I can block things like this. Does anyone know if this is possible?

I'll report back if I find a way of doing this. At least I wasn't tempted and told my husband about it straight away.

Good evening fellow members,

A warm welcome to our new member mrt1969. A sincere and honest post, well done for posting it here, I feel for you greatly my friend, you are going through a lot at the moment. I have stopped for around 10 months now, after gambling for 25 years. If you want to move forward, you have to draw a line under everything that has happened, and accept who you are.

That money has gone and it isn't coming back. It clearly hurts you a great deal but there is a way forward - accepting who and what you are is key; you are a compulsive gamber, which means that if you win, all you will desire is the same level of eurphoria again, if you lose, you will experience soul-wrenching desperation to win it back. Both scenarios lead to losing and nothing you can ever do will change that - remember it, run it over and over in your mind if you feel tempted to gamble - urges are only ever temporary; learn to occupy your mind with positive, constructive things if you feel vulnerable. mrt1969, things seem pretty bad at the moment, but imagine your life in five or ten years if you carry on; money doesn't really matter at the end of the day.

Your family may respect you more if you come completely clean with them and explain the true extent of your gambling problem and the debts you have. It has worked for me and may work for you. I have handed over the control of our finances to my wife to remove one of the temptations of having ready money to give to the gambling industry.

Remain strong my friend and I hope everything works out ok.

Triangle. I hope you are feeling better now and try to remain strong through those difficult, tempting situations. We are all here to help one another through thick and thin.

Mike

Duncs

CONGRATULATIONS ON 1 YEAR GAMBLE FREE - well done stepping forward never back, you're an inspiration to us all. I spent a while last night re-reading my diary, reliving emotions that I never want to experience again and with that in mind I move one more step towards xmas and a new year being gamble free.....one small step a day at a time....looking forward and never ever ever going back again. Have also read articles about how online slots are programmed and 'The Truth' about how they work and it makes me determined never to ever gamble on online slots again. Keep strong everyone.
