Checking in on day 8... I've just gone through what I think has been my 1st ever weekend without making a bet

I really can relate to this Triangle theory of Time, Money & Location... In my case I normally had the ability to box off the last 2 (Money & Location) but time was usually the only factor which slowed my betting down at times. However, I always had weekends off so normally from Friday around 6pm until the NFL ended in the early hours of Monday mornings I'd be 100% focused on any sport that moved anywhere in the world... Last weekend I didn't place a single bet - That's a great buzz

However, I very nearly did when at an actual game and went to the loo and saw the in stadium bookie and automatically walked towards the desk without even thinking. It was only as I qued up I felt serious guilt (my boy was sat waiting for the game to start whilst I was away to the loo) and somehow managed to turn away

This giving up aint going to be easy... I'm just over a week in (including for me just 1 weekend) but so far so good

I see alot in here talking of lapses and I can easily see how... no amount of blocking sites & self exclusions can genuinely stop us if we feel 'the need'

It was weird being at a game on Sunday without anything betting wise riding on it - genuinely can't remember the last time that happened but you know what I think it was the match I enjoyed most in years (even though the game itself was pretty boring)

Feeling good today and confident (at least until next weekend again)

Good luck folks

Hi guys and gals just checking in. Two weeks for me tomorrow, I'll be working away for the day and will have access to bookies I'm not excluded from so it's a challenge but I feel strong right now and don't want this challenge to end. I won't bring any excess money with me and make sure I keep myself busy. I want to make the two week mark and feel strong on the road to my first month. Take care all and stay strong

Checking in 520 days GF.... I'm glad the forum admins agreed and have made the 2014 challenge a "sticky" thread, I don't think its right to see all the hard work drift down the pages and will be a constant reminder of what was sacrificed in 2014. Hopefully make it onto the chat room tonight.

Del 🙂

Thank you for the update Phil - so glad to read of your ongoing wellbeing. Commiserations to others who have stumbled a bit, but be of good heart - Phil and other Challengers are testimony of what can be achieved even after taking a fall. Very few of us have had a straight path achieving our milestones, so keep going!

Checking on for this week on my Day 318.

Joanna
