Hi
I was one person that it took along time to learn that going back to Gambling was very painful.
My thinking was that I let every one down and did not feel worthy of going back to meetings.
The truth is that each time I gambled and was honest was a sign of growing maturity and also meant I was nearer to finding out what my last emotional trigger was.
Sadly I was a slow learner, in time it took very slow baby steps for me to mature and become more honest with myself.
Today I see and feel that gambling for a compulsive gambler is a kind of self destruction.
Each time I went back to gambling was a chance for me to learn more about myself.
Each time I went back to gambling I was more determined to not give up faith or hope in myself.
We are all equal in the recovery no matter when we last had our last bet.
Is it not healthy to idolize another person, my thinking would be if he failed I would fail.
Please keep going to meetings, you will benefit from it in so many ways.
Love and peace to every one.

Back to day 1 - d**n it!
Didn’t lose much and don’t feel the urge to continue - just disappointed I gambled - don’t know why - didn’t have a big urge to - I might suppose it was a bit of a test but I could be deluding myself.  Anyway it’s over.  Determined to enjoy the summer without the cloud of gambling over me - am going to get my life back on track and enjoy another gamble free year.  -365 and counting down to 4 June 2020. Â
Sorry to hear that Ineffable. Glad there was not too much damage done.
Don't get too focused on a calendar year or 365. Just numbers in the grand scheme of things.
Try and work on what triggered you and how you will cope in the future.

Checking in gf for the weekÂ
Hi Everyone,
I have had problems with gambling for coming on 20 years now, can remember going to my first GA meeting only 16 thinking that i didn't have a problem and it was only a bit of harmless fun (how wrong was i). I have had long periods in the last 20 years where i have not had the urge to gamble however this last 12 months have been as bad as i can remember;
Im spending far more than i can afford in betting shops & casinos and this has caused me serious financial & personal problems. My addiction has always been on slot machines and casino games - blackjack, roulette etc. In the last couple of months alone i have lost hundreds of pounds at a time and left myself in a position where i am struggling for the remainder of the month until i am paid (by which point i have borrowed, pawned items to manage and have to pay these back leaving me feeling the need to gamble again to make up what i am paying out). It has been a horrible routine i have been in these last few months and something i am determined to get out of.
I have a young son with my ex and i have found my gambling over the last couple of months has cost me time that i should be spending with him & not in casinos. Im not sure what has caused me to gamble so much in this last 12 months but i would like to join this challenge and check in for day one.
Hopefully this can be the first day to finally becoming GF.
Thanks and continued best of luck to everyone else.
