I am 40 years old and desperate.

life is utter mess. the online casino has just robbed me of 150 pounds. I even won 500+ at first. and then I was disrupted and then I lost all the winnings and my own 150 pounds.

my living hell all begun in 1993, when i met a d******d boy in my class at school, who took me to the amusements to play the 5p fruit machines.

i was 14 when all this begun and its been 26 years.

when i was 18 i was still on fruit machines, but losing big, 100 pound + many times

when i was in my 20s, life was destroyed by the FOBTs at the bookies.

then from aged 30 onwards, i begun my saga at casinos, i was surprised to find all the junkies in my city in the casinos, who were losers and ugly in looking.

i figured over the all 26 years gambling history, i have losted about 50000 pounds. averaging about 2000 a year.

in 2010, i lost 5500 pounds, that was the worst year in my life

in 2011, i didn't lose anything,  now, that was the only year without losses.

my gambling losses over the last few years are

2012 - 2000 pounds

2013 - 2000 pounds

2014 - 1500 pounds - dispite spending everyday and everynight at casino this year

2015- 2700 pounds - also everyday and everynight at the casino, but with bigger losses, no good

2016 - 730 pounds - this was a good year, less losses

2017 - 1700 pounds - a no good year once again

2018 - 1140 pounds lost - better than the previous year, which is good

2019 - 1713 pounds lost so far, only upto 12th April. this year has been particularly unlucky up to now, 100 days of lossing again and again, almost never won anything, not even once.

every time I lost big, I was in despair, I am a bad loser, and will always gamble until the last penny. I now have nothing to my name, a complete loser.

I now realise I have to stop gambling altogether from next year onwards.

no more gambling at all from 2020. when I am 41, now more gambling activity is allowed. I don't want to gamble and be a loser until I am 70 or even 80. I want to be free of gambling and get that 50000 lost money some other way.

however, for the reminder of this year, I will still fight on, try to get some money back at least. what will happen from this day onwards? it's a mystery. if I fight on, I might win a million pounds, or I could lose a few hundred pounds more, hey, what the heck, just do it. and mybe my luck will change one day, and this shall be the turning point in my lifelong losing  streak.

I will tell you all what has happened. keep checking this website.

i will for now go under the name of Unlucky Alf - the pennyless unlucky Alf

Hi It's not to late to start now to save more loss and devastation I too have also thrown my money down the gambling drain and unfortunately no matter how many times we convince our self we have a chance to recover the loss in the end we get more hurt. It's ruining your life time to fight back and try again to stop.

What makes you think that doing more gambling is the solution to your problems caused by gambling?  It's only going to lead to more problems. The only way to stop gambling is to actually stop gambling today.  Grand plans to stop on x day in the future always fail.  You need to stop today.

Sounds like you need to lose another 50k, doesn't seem like you've learned anything at all.

What a great start to a "quit gambling" thread, and a disappointing end.

I'm not sure I believe the £2000 a year figure. That would hurt, but not to the point you are penniless in my opinion - have you fudged those figures a little?

Try going a week without a gamble and see where you go from there. All that works for me is one day at a time. Even that is a struggle at the moment.

I would agree. I would have thought the time and stress from gambling would be more of the issue than the amount lost in this scenario. 2k a year most people could probably absorb that loss and doesn't seem terrible, but then again the people who come here are probably on the high scale when it comes to addiction.

Is it possible your funds are going elsewhere?

I’ve been there, done that too! I’ve literally lost everything in my 48 year old life. Filed bankruptcy 4 times, lost my home and savings. Am better off with no bills or money so that I can’t gamble again. Am so lost but always seem to manage.
